Summarize Article – Key Points & TL;DR of Any Web Page
Overview
Summarize article text in one click: a TL;DR and key points. Free trial, then an Unlimited subscription or lifetime purchase.
Summarize article text in one click. Open a news story, blog post or long read, click the Summarize Article icon (or press Alt+S), and a one-line TL;DR appears with 3 to 5 key points underneath. It takes a few seconds, and you decide whether the full piece is worth your time. This article summarizer is made for busy readers, students and anyone who wants the gist first. It is a lightweight extension that summarizes articles, with nothing to set up and no account to create. WHAT IT DOES • Summarize this page: click the icon. The extension picks out the main article text and skips menus, ads, sidebars and comments. • Summarize a selection: select a few paragraphs, right-click and choose "Summarize selection". • Copy the summary with one click, or press Read aloud to hear it. • Choose a short, medium or detailed length (Detailed sets the summary out in short headed sections), bullet points or a single paragraph, and the page's own language or one of 23 others. • Your last 20 summaries are saved on this computer, so you can reopen them at any time. Clear them whenever you like. • With Unlimited, if Chrome's built-in AI is already on your computer, the summary is made on your device and the popup says "Summarized on your device". UNLIMITED PLANS Start with a free trial that includes every feature, with no payment due. When it ends, choose an Unlimited plan to keep going: • Unlimited Monthly or Unlimited Yearly: a subscription that renews automatically; cancel anytime from "Manage subscription". • Unlimited Lifetime: pay once, no subscription. Subscribers can upgrade to it later without being billed twice. Unlimited is subject to fair use. The current prices are shown in the popup and on the secure Stripe page before you pay; your card details never reach the extension. Paid on another computer? Choose "Already paid? Restore", enter the email you paid with, and we send a link that turns Unlimited on in this browser. WHAT IT CAN'T DO Chrome does not let extensions read its own pages (such as settings and the new tab page), the Chrome Web Store or Chrome's built-in PDF viewer. On those pages the popup says "This page can't be read". A page that is not an article, such as a sign-in page or a shop listing, gets a one-line note instead of a made-up summary. PRIVACY The text is sent only when you click and is not stored by Viralinc; our AI service writes the summary. The privacy policy names who processes the text and where. • What is sent: the page title and the main article text (up to about 24,000 characters), or the text you selected, plus your length, format and language choices. • A random install ID, made when you install the extension, is sent so the server can run your free trial and check whether you have Unlimited. It is not linked to your name, email or Google account. • No ads, no tracking and no account. Your saved summaries stay in your browser. • If you buy Unlimited, Stripe handles the payment. Viralinc keeps your payment status and a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email, so Unlimited can be turned on in another browser. • The extension reads a page only when you click the icon, press the shortcut or use the right-click menu. • Before the first summary, the popup shows what will be sent and where, and asks you to agree. Nothing is sent before you agree. FAQ How long are the summaries? A one-line TL;DR and 3 key points on Short, 5 on Medium, or a fuller summary in headed sections on Detailed. Choose Paragraph if you prefer a few sentences instead of bullets. Can I summarize web page text that is not a news article? Yes. Any page with readable text works, such as a guide, a report or a long forum post. To summarize web page content in one section only, select it and use "Summarize selection". What does it cost? It starts with a free trial. After that it needs an Unlimited plan: monthly, yearly or a one-time lifetime purchase. The popup shows the prices before you pay. Does the article summarizer work in other languages? Yes. It reads articles in most languages. It can reply in the page's own language or in one of 23 languages you pick, such as Spanish, French, Hindi or Japanese. Why does it say "This page can't be read"? Chrome blocks every extension on its own pages, the Chrome Web Store and its PDF viewer. Open the article as a normal web page and try again.
