Overview
A text calculator in the side panel. Type percentages, units, currencies and dates; the answer lands next to the line.
Sumico is a text calculator for Chrome: a notepad where every line answers itself while you type. It opens in the side panel, beside the page you are already reading. Numbers out of a spec, prices out of an invoice, dates out of a ticket: put them down the way you would on paper. Change one line and every line under it recalculates. In one document it doubles as a unit converter extension and a currency converter. Mix a length, a price and a date on adjacent lines and each of them still lands. WHAT IT READS - Percentages as sentences: 20% of 450, 500 + 20%, 250 as a % of 900, what is 17% of 650 - Units: length, mass, volume, data, speed, temperature, angles and CSS pixels, with SI prefixes - Money: 160 fiat rates and around 20 crypto tickers, by symbol, code or name - Dates and time zones: today + 2 weeks, next monday, one date minus another, 2:30pm HKT in Berlin - Variables and back references: price = $19, then prev, sum and average over the lines above - Functions and bases: sqrt, log, min, max, sin and the rest, plus hex, binary and octal - Headers, comments and quoted text, so the whole thing still reads like a note HOW IT BEHAVES - Autosave with no Save button, and the document is still there tomorrow - Several documents, switched with a fuzzy search field - 14 themes, light and dark - Click a result to copy it - Mistakes come back in plain English, never as parser jargon - Rates are cached, fall back to a snapshot that ships inside the extension, and say so when they go stale WHAT YOU DON'T GET - No account, no sign-in, no sync - No analytics, no tracking, no ads - No AI and no API keys - Nothing you type leaves your device PERMISSIONS One Chrome permission, sidePanel, so the panel opens when you click the toolbar icon. Three addresses, and only for exchange rates: open.er-api.com, api.frankfurter.dev, api.coingecko.com. The single thing sent is the three letter code of your base currency. What you type is never part of a request, and there is nowhere for it to go: it lives in this browser, on this machine. A notepad calculator, then, that happens to be right about money, units and dates. Exchange rates by ExchangeRate-API, Frankfurter and CoinGecko.
