subwatch

Subreddit new-post alerts — the replacement for Reddit RSS (retiring Nov 13, 2026).

subwatch watches subreddits you choose and pops a desktop notification when there's a new post or a keyword match. Why it exists: Reddit is shutting down RSS feeds on Nov 13, 2026 and public API access in March 2027, which kills RSS-reader extensions and workflows; subwatch polls public old.reddit.com listing pages on a schedule (default every 10 minutes, configurable 1–60), so no API key is needed. Features: watch multiple subreddits, optional keyword filters (all-new-posts mode or keyword-only mode), desktop notifications, per-monitor enable toggles, polite polling with jitter and backoff. Permissions: storage (watchlist saved locally only), notifications, alarms, host access to old.reddit.com (reads public listings). Open source: https://github.com/hahahahahahahahah6/subwatch
