Real-time translated subtitles for any video, overlaid on the page.

Subtly listens to the audio playing in a browser tab you choose, transcribes and translates it as it happens, and shows the result in a floating subtitle box right on the page. No uploading, no waiting for a file to process, no switching to another app. You press start and the subtitles follow the video. WHAT YOU GET - Live translated subtitles for any video playing in your browser - More than 60 languages, with automatic detection of the spoken language - A subtitle box you can drag anywhere and resize freely - The box stays on top of the page, including in fullscreen - Position and size are remembered separately for every website - Your own colours: background colour, opacity, text size, and a highlight colour for the words that just arrived so your eye can follow along - Optional original line under the translation for side-by-side reading - A live transcript in the side panel, with a Copy button when you want to keep it - English and Vietnamese interface, light or dark following your system WHAT YOU NEED Subtly uses Soniox for speech recognition and translation. You bring an API key from your own Soniox account at console.soniox.com and paste it into the extension's settings. Usage is billed to your own account, so the cost stays transparent and your audio never passes through a middleman. PRIVACY Subtly has no server of its own. Audio is sent only to Soniox, and only while a session you started yourself is running on a tab you selected. Your API key is encrypted before it is stored on your device. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and nothing is ever sent to the extension author.
