Overview
Get, search, copy and download YouTube transcripts. Turn captions on or off automatically and handle duplicate subtitles.
Find key moments with transcripts and choose when captions appear. subtitle.im brings YouTube transcripts and caption control together for easier learning, reference and note-taking. Read the transcript. Ask AI. Summarize videos, explain passages, and return to the source with timestamps. Save or download useful answers. Open the transcript on YouTube or in the extension popup, then switch to AI Assistant. Choose a summary, key points, or notes, or select sentences to ask about. Follow timestamps back to the source, save useful answers, and download them for your notes. Free and Pro users can use AI with a connected account and available points. AI points are separate from duplicate-caption allowances and transcript download permissions. Usage depends on the transcript, conversation, and answer, not a fixed number of questions. Check the extension for your balance and when your points expire. AI uses the available transcript. It does not transcribe videos without captions, read video images, or fact-check on the web. With a partial transcript, answers cover only the available content. Chat history is kept temporarily; save or download answers you want to keep. Get, search, copy and download transcripts • Get transcripts from a video’s existing captions, including YouTube auto-generated captions. • Search for keywords and click a sentence to jump to that moment. • Copy the full transcript or selected passages for notes, quotes and reference. • Download TXT for free; Pro supports SRT, VTT, PDF and Markdown. Automatic caption control • Let captions follow YouTube or turn them on or off automatically. • Save caption preferences for individual videos and channels with Pro. • Your manual changes take priority while watching. Restore captions when needed. Duplicate subtitle handling • When a video already has burned-in subtitles, handle overlapping YouTube captions according to your settings. • Choose automatic handling or confirmation first. Captions stay on when evidence is insufficient. • Pro can remember confirmed decisions to turn captions off, reducing repeated actions. Reading, searching and copying transcripts, and downloading TXT, are free and do not use the duplicate-subtitle allowance. The free allowance covers 10 successfully handled videos in total. Only when you submit an AI question are the required transcript, question, selection, and conversation context sent to the server and configured model service. Caption recognition still runs locally; video frames are not uploaded. Check the cited source: AI can make mistakes. Works on YouTube video watch pages in desktop Chrome.
