Overview

Dual subtitles for YouTube: the original and a translation, on pause or always. Save subtitles as .srt or .txt.

Paused a video to catch what they just said — and still didn't get it? YouTube shows subtitles in one language at a time. Keep the original and you miss the meaning. Switch to your language and you lose what was actually said — the words you wanted to learn. Switching back and forth on every pause kills the video. Subtitle Tools shows both at once: the original line and its translation, one above the other — and only when you need them. Watch without subtitles, pause, and both languages are right there. Press play and they disappear. • Dual subtitles — the original and a translation at the same time. Each language has its own display mode: Off, On pause (only while the video is paused), or Always. For example: watch with no subtitles and see both languages the moment you pause. • Translation source — the author's own subtitles in your language first, then YouTube's automatic translation, then Chrome's built-in on-device translator (free, works locally). • Word highlight — for YouTube's auto-generated subtitles, the word being spoken is highlighted. • Select and copy text on pause without restarting the video. • Position and look — bottom, top (for videos with burned-in text) or drag anywhere; adjustable size and background. • Hide on this video — one click hides the subtitles for the current video only. • Save subtitles of the current video: copy as text, or download as .txt or .srt (original, translation or both). All controls live in one round button in the top-right corner of the YouTube player. The toolbar icon is just an on/off switch. If no subtitles appear: some videos simply don't have any, and YouTube's translation is sometimes temporarily unavailable — in that case the extension offers Chrome's built-in translator. Privacy: the extension does not collect, store or send any personal data. Settings are kept in Chrome's own storage. Subtitles are requested only from YouTube itself. Interface in English, Spanish and Russian.
