SubNaru translates existing video subtitles into your preferred language. Read translated captions on their own or show the original and translation together. FEATURES • Translate exposed ASS, WebVTT and SRT subtitles and compatible HTML video text tracks. • Choose from 14 target language/region options, or use a supported browser language. • Show original and translated subtitles together. • Adjust text size, subtitle position and background opacity. • Reuse locally cached translations and clear them from the popup. GET STARTED Open SubNaru, choose your language, enable translation and save. Then play a video with a supported subtitle track. Translation is paused on a fresh installation until you enable it. PRIVACY When enabled, subtitle text is sent over HTTPS to Google's translation service. Settings and subtitle caches are stored locally on your device. There is no developer-operated advertising, analytics or subtitle collection server. To find subtitles, SubNaru inspects resource URLs on the current video page locally. It does not read Chrome's history database or log clicks, keystrokes or GPS. Translation providers receive your IP address as part of network requests. See the linked privacy policy for details. COMPATIBILITY Compatibility depends on the website exposing subtitle text. SubNaru does not transcribe audio, read burned-in captions, bypass DRM or guarantee support for every streaming service. Native picture-in-picture and video-element fullscreen may display original captions instead of the translation overlay. Translation requires an internet connection and may be rate limited or temporarily unavailable. Free to use. No subscription or API key required by this build.
