Overview
Chrome extension for studying languages!
StudyLang enhances language learning by allowing users to translate, listen to, and save selected text on any website to a personal dictionary. This functionality also applies to subtitles on YouTube and Netflix. When browsing any webpage, all previously saved words and phrases are automatically highlighted directly in the text, and hovering over them reveals a tooltip with the translation, making it easy to reinforce vocabulary in context without leaving the page. Additionally, StudyLang includes an OCR feature that allows users to translate text from images — including photos, screenshots, and scanned documents — directly within the extension. In the extension settings, users can manage their saved words with tags and search, then export or import them via CSV. Words can be organized into groups and trained using Flashcard and Writing modes powered by spaced repetition. The Statistics panel provides an overview of learning progress through charts, a calendar heatmap, and detailed per-word data. The Word Frequency Analysis panel shows how often saved words appear across watched videos and custom articles, assigning relevance ratings to help prioritize study. Users can also manage their reading materials in the Articles section and review cached subtitle data from previously watched videos in the Subtitle Cache panel.
