Overview

Fill ultrawide and 16:10 screens, no black bars. Elastic Stretch keeps faces natural. Smooth video to your screen's refresh rate.

Stretchy makes online video fill your screen. On an ultrawide monitor, a 16:10 MacBook or any screen that isn't 16:9, videos usually sit between black bars. Stretchy zooms or stretches the picture to fill the space, and its Elastic Stretch keeps the middle of the frame in its true shape, so faces and text still look right. It can also make video smoother. Fluidity creates in-between frames on your graphics card and plays video at your screen's refresh rate: 24 or 30 fps becomes 60, 120 or 144 fps. HOW IT WORKS • Click the Stretchy button in the player. On YouTube it sits next to the settings gear. On other sites it appears in the top-left corner of the video when you move the mouse • Pick a mode: Zoom to Fill, Elastic Stretch or Stretch • Pick an output ratio: Auto (matches your screen or player), 16:10, 16:9, 18:9, 21:9 or 32:9 • Changes show instantly, no reload. Your choice applies to every video ELASTIC STRETCH Plain stretching makes everyone look wide. Elastic Stretch leaves the center of the picture alone and widens the edges a little more toward the sides, like the panorama mode on a good TV. • The center keeps its true shape, so faces stay natural • A smooth falloff toward the edges, with no visible seam when the camera pans • Tune strength, center size, crop allowance and an edge limit • Made for 21:9 and 32:9 ultrawide monitors and 16:10 laptop screens FLUIDITY: SMOOTHER VIDEO • Real time motion interpolation on your graphics card. Nothing is uploaded • Auto matches your monitor's refresh rate (60, 75, 120, 144, 165 or 240 Hz), or pick a rate yourself • Fast, Balanced and High quality presets. It steps down by itself if your GPU can't keep up • Detects scene cuts, so it never blends two unrelated shots • Keeps channel logos and burned-in subtitles sharp • Delays the audio by one frame to keep lip sync right, where the site allows it • Live readout of source and output frame rate, plus GPU time WHERE IT WORKS Stretchy works on YouTube and on popular video, social and streaming sites. On sites with a regular video player, every feature works. Streaming services that protect their video with DRM don't let extensions read video frames, so there you get Zoom to Fill and Stretch, and Stretchy tells you that Elastic Stretch and Fluidity are unavailable. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Everything runs on your device. No account, no analytics, no tracking, nothing is uploaded • The only thing stored is your settings, in Chrome's sync storage • One permission: storage. Stretchy only runs on supported video sites FAQ Does it work on an ultrawide monitor in fullscreen? Yes, that is what it is made for. Leave the ratio on Auto and go fullscreen. Stretchy matches your monitor's shape. Will people look stretched? Not with Elastic Stretch. The middle of the frame keeps its shape. Only the outer edges are widened. Why don't Elastic Stretch and Fluidity work on Netflix? Netflix and other paid streaming services use DRM, which stops extensions from reading video frames. Zoom to Fill and Stretch don't need to read frames, so they still work. Does Fluidity use a lot of power? It uses your graphics card while a video plays. Fast is the lightest preset, and you can turn Fluidity off at any time. Can I pick a frame rate higher than my screen? Yes. Your screen still shows at most one new frame per refresh. Fill your screen. Keep it natural.
