It helps you draft and refine funder communications, grant proposals, and donor updates — without leaving your browser. Open Steward in the Chrome side panel and work alongside whatever you're already doing. Describe what you need, attach relevant documents like previous grants or funder guidelines, and get a focused, professional draft you can refine and use right away. Steward is built to cut down the time spent on repetitive drafting and help your team produce clearer, more consistent communications — so you can focus on relationships, not rewrites. Steward was created through the American Journalism Project's Product & AI Studio, which supports the smart experimentation of emerging technologies in nonprofit local news organizations across the country Data Steward processes ───────────────────────────────────────────── When you use Steward, the extension processes the following data so it can draft and refine your fundraising communications: • Personally identifiable information — your name, email, and organization role from your identity provider. • Authentication information — session tokens issued by Clerk. Steward never stores your password. • Personal communications — the prompts, drafts, refinements, and notes you write inside the side panel. • Website content (optional) — only the text of Google Drive files you explicitly select via Google Picker. Steward does not read the web pages you visit or your browsing history, and injects no content scripts. Data is sent to AJP's backend at tools.theajp.org, Clerk for authentication, and the OpenAI API only when needed for draft generation or refinement. Before any data is processed, the extension shows a consent screen with the same disclosure and asks you to affirmatively agree.
