Steadywatch: Shorts blocker & parental controls

Removes Shorts from YouTube and adds parental controls: a parent PIN, time limits and Kid mode with approved channels. No tracking.

Steadywatch removes Shorts from YouTube on your kid's computer and keeps them off. It works the moment it's installed, even in tabs already open, and a parent PIN means only you can change it or switch it off. What it does for free • Removes Shorts everywhere on YouTube: the home page, search, subscriptions, channel pages, the side menu and the videos suggested next to the player. • Opens a Shorts link as a normal video, without the endless swipe, or blocks it. You choose. • Puts every setting behind a parent PIN, and locks again when you step away. Your kid sees a calm screen: Shorts are off, YouTube time today, and nothing to switch off. • Lets you pause it for 15 minutes, an hour or until tomorrow. It switches back on by itself. Pro, one payment for up to 5 browsers • Kid mode: YouTube shows only the channels you approve. Its home page becomes a calm grid of their newest videos, with no Shorts and nothing else from YouTube's feed, and the videos beside the player come from your channels too. Start from a list of channels we suggest for your kid's age, in English, Hindi or Tamil, and check it before anything changes. We pick channels for what they're known for, not by watching every video, so watch a few first. • Lock it in: a guided setup that uses Chrome's own policy, the one schools use, so your kid can't remove or switch off Steadywatch. It can also turn off private windows, guest mode and new profiles, block Shorts in every Chrome profile, and keep YouTube Restricted Mode and Google SafeSearch on. Mac, Windows and Chromebook (Family Link). • Time rules: one limit for school days, another for weekends, homework hours and bedtime. When time's up, YouTube shows a friendly page instead. • Approved channels only: YouTube plays only the channels you added. • Block channels or words in video titles. • A quieter YouTube: hide comments, recommendations, end screens and YouTube's games, and turn off autoplay. • This week: time on YouTube per day and any time Steadywatch was switched off, kept on the computer. Neither request carries anything about you or your kid. Honest limits • Works in Chrome on a computer. It can't reach the YouTube app on phones, tablets or TVs, or YouTube Kids; use Screen Time or Family Link there. • Without Lock it in, a kid who knows how can remove an extension or use another browser. • YouTube's own Family Center can limit Shorts on a supervised teen account.
