Enter prepared text gradually into Overleaf and other web editors with Steady Type. Choose the insertion point, adjust the pace, and pause or stop whenever you need. • Paste text or import .tex, .txt and .md files. • Adjust typing speed, pauses and optional spelling corrections. • Inspect your run plan before starting and track progress in a floating monitor. • Pause, resume or stop with on-page controls and keyboard shortcuts. • Work with ordinary text fields, contenteditable and supported CodeMirror editors, including Overleaf Code Editor. • Keep settings and unfinished-session recovery locally in your browser. • Optionally use your own OpenRouter API key for AI drafts, revision plans and rewrite previews. Review proposed wording before accepting it. Core typing works without an account, analytics or a developer-operated server. Optional AI features send the supplied source text to OpenRouter and the selected model provider, and may incur provider charges. They can be disabled. Your API key and saved writing data stay in browser storage unless you choose to send source text for AI processing. Steady Type requests temporary access to the page you select. Its debugger permission supports browser-level text input and active typing sessions; Chrome may show a debugging banner. It does not monitor browsing history or change past document timestamps. Compatibility varies by website; protected browser pages, passwords and inaccessible frames are not supported. Designed for controlled text entry and writing workflows.
