Overview
Save & restore tabs in beautiful collections. Workspaces, command palette, AI auto-grouping, closed-tab restore. No backend, free.
Stash is a Toby-class tab manager that bundles every premium feature commercial alternatives charge $5–10/month for — and adds a few they don't have at all — into a free, fully backend-free Chrome extension. Your data syncs across your signed-in browsers via chrome.storage.sync (Google's), not through any Stash server (we have none). 🗂 COLLECTIONS WITH 8 COLORS + DRAG-DROP Save your open tabs into named collections, organize them with 8 color tints, drag tabs between collections, pin important ones to the top. Double-click to rename. Tags for orthogonal grouping. 🪪 WORKSPACES Separate sets of collections (Work / Personal / Research). Switch with a dropdown or via the Cmd+K palette. ⌘ COMMAND PALETTE (Ctrl/Cmd+K) Press one shortcut to fuzzy-search across every collection, every saved tab, every workspace, plus quick actions. Arrow keys to navigate, Enter to open. ✨ AI ORGANIZE (BYOK) One click clusters all your open tabs into named collections by topic. Bring your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Groq (Groq is free with no credit card). The AI gets only tab titles + URLs, never your browsing history. ✨ AI COLLECTION SUMMARY (BYOK) Right-click any collection → "Summarize with AI". Get a 1-2 sentence theme description in your language. Cached so revisits are instant. 📚 READING LIST MODE Mark any collection as a reading list. Tab cards then show ✓ to mark read, unread tabs sort first, read tabs strike-through with reduced opacity. Header shows "12/30 unread". 📝 PER-TAB NOTES + 📌 PER-TAB PINS Add a snippet of context to any saved tab. Pin tabs you re-open daily — they stick to the top of their collection. ☑ BULK SELECT Shift-click tabs to enter bulk mode. Remove or move 20 tabs at once. 🎯 AUTO-GROUPING RULES Set up patterns like *.github.com → "Code" or *.notion.so → "Docs". When you save tabs, matching URLs go straight into the right collection automatically. ⏪ RECENTLY CLOSED TABS (last 200) Background service worker tracks every closed tab. Restore individually or all at once from the dashboard. 📊 STATS Activity heatmap (last 30 days) + top-10 domains across all collections. See where your attention actually goes. ⚡ QUICK SAVES Right-click any link or page → "Save link to Stash collection" → it goes into a pinned ⚡ Quick saves collection that accumulates over time. No need to open the popup. ☁ TRUE CROSS-DEVICE SYNC, NO BACKEND Collections, workspaces, tags, notes, settings — all stored in chrome.storage.sync. Google syncs them between your signed-in browsers automatically. We have no server. The Sync Status badge shows current quota usage. 🌍 8-LANGUAGE UI Auto-detected from your browser language: English · Türkçe · Español · Deutsch · Français · Português · Italiano · 日本語. Manual override in Settings. 🌅 LIGHT MODE + CUSTOM BACKGROUND Dark by default with a glassmorphism aesthetic. Switch to Light Mode or set a custom Unsplash URL as the dashboard background. ⌨️ KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS • Alt+Shift+S — open the popup • Alt+Shift+W — save all tabs as a new collection • Ctrl/Cmd+K — open the command palette • / — focus the search box 🔒 PRIVACY-FIRST • Zero analytics, telemetry, or tracking • The extension itself has no outbound network code • Optional AI features go directly from your browser to your chosen provider with your own key • All data on your device (synced through your own Chrome account if signed in) ═══════════════════════════════ WHY ANOTHER TAB MANAGER? Toby is great but locks workspaces, advanced color customization, and meaningful sync behind a $60/year subscription. Workona costs more. Cluster sells the same idea for $5/month. Stash gives you everything they charge for, plus an AI organizer, AI summaries, full reading-list mode, stats, and 8-language UI — for free. Cross-device sync works because we use chrome.storage.sync (Google's free per-user sync), not because we run servers (we don't). ═══════════════════════════════ CHANGELOG 1.1.0 — Cmd+K command palette, stats, AI organize + AI summary, bulk select, tab notes, reading list, tags, auto-group rules, light mode + custom background, 8 languages, toasts with undo, context menu Quick Saves 1.0.0 — Initial release with collections, workspaces, drag-drop, recently closed, AI organize ═══════════════════════════════ CREDITS • Dexie (Apache 2.0) — IndexedDB wrapper for closed-tab history • React + Vite + Tailwind (MIT) If you find a bug, open an issue on the repo — fixes ship fast.
