Shows a trust badge on Amazon product pages to help spot suspicious reviews.

StarSkew adds a small risk badge next to the star rating on Amazon product pages. The badge summarizes patterns in a product's review metadata that are statistically associated with review manipulation: • Suspiciously high ratings: a 4.8+ average across hundreds of reviews, or a perfect 5.0 across 50+ reviews. • Review velocity spikes: review counts growing implausibly fast (tracked across anonymous users of the extension). • Skewed rating distributions: J-shaped histograms (e.g. >80% five-star with almost no one- or two-star reviews) that organic review populations rarely produce. Badge states: • Green — Looks Genuine: no strong suspicious patterns detected. • Yellow — Mixed Signals: one suspicious pattern detected. • Red — Unusual Patterns: multiple suspicious patterns detected. • Grey — Not enough reviews: fewer than 20 reviews; no judgment possible. WHAT STARSKEW CAN AND CANNOT DETECT (honest disclosure) StarSkew analyzes review metadata only (average rating, review count and its growth, rating distribution). It does NOT read review text, so it cannot detect AI-generated or copy-pasted text, reviewer-account farming, hijacked listings, or incentivized reviews that produce organic-looking distributions over time. A green badge is not a guarantee that reviews are genuine — it means none of our metadata signals fired. A red badge is not proof of fraud — it means the review pattern is statistically unusual.
