Staccato
Overview
A speed reading extension that flashes words one at a time for rapid, focused reading.
Staccato — Speed Reading, Word by Word Staccato transforms any article or blog post into a focused reading experience — one word at a time, at exactly the pace you set. Most slow reading isn't about comprehension. It's about distraction: eyes drifting, re-reading lines, losing your place. Staccato eliminates all of that. Words appear in a single fixed point on screen, so your eyes never move. You just read. How it works Open any article, press Alt+R (or click the extension icon), and Staccato extracts the content and launches a clean reader. Words flash one at a time with the optimal recognition point — the character your eye naturally fixates on — subtly highlighted. The result is faster reading with less effort. Features - RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation) reader with ORP highlighting - Adjustable reading speed from 100 to 1000 WPM - Smart pacing — automatically slows for punctuation, long words, paragraph breaks, and numbers - Three themes: Dark, Light, and Sepia - Three font sizes - Full keyboard control: Space to play/pause, arrows to skip, up/down to adjust speed - Resume where you left off — Staccato remembers your position per article - Read full articles or just a selected passage - Works on any webpage Built for readers Whether you're powering through research, catching up on newsletters, or just want to read more in less time — Staccato gets out of the way and lets you focus on the words.
