Overview

Compress JPEG, PNG, and WebP images in your browser — no uploads, no servers, fully private.

Compress JPEG, PNG, and WebP images instantly — no uploads, no servers, 100% private. Squish compresses your images directly in the browser. No files ever leave your device — everything happens locally, instantly, and privately. Just drop in your images, adjust the quality, and download. That's it. WHY SQUISH? Most image compression tools upload your files to a remote server, process them there, and send them back. That means your photos, screenshots, and graphics pass through someone else's infrastructure — even if only briefly. Squish is different. Compression runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files never touch a server. There's no account, no login, no tracking, and no limit on how many images you can compress. FEATURES • Drag-and-drop or browse to add images • Compress multiple images at once • Live quality slider with helpful labels (e.g. "Good for web", "Balanced", "Near lossless") • Set a maximum dimension to resize large images on the fly • Output format selector — JPEG, PNG, WebP, or Auto • Side-by-side preview comparing original vs. compressed • Download files individually or all at once • Shows file size savings as a percentage for each image • 100% offline — works without an internet connection SUPPORTED FORMATS Input: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF Output: JPEG, PNG, WebP (your choice, or let Squish pick automatically) HOW TO USE 1. Click the Squish icon in your toolbar to open the extension 2. Drag images into the window, or click "browse files" 3. Adjust Quality and Max Size to your liking 4. Watch the compressed sizes appear in real time 5. Click any image to preview original vs. compressed side by side 6. Hit the download button — or "Download all" to grab everything at once QUALITY GUIDE Not sure what quality to use? Here's a quick reference: 10–30% → Heavy compression · thumbnails only 31–50% → Visible artifacts · small file size 51–65% → Good for web · efficient 66–82% → Balanced · recommended for most uses 83–92% → High quality · minimal loss 93–100% → Near lossless · larger file size For most web images, 70–82% gives the best balance of quality and file size savings. PRIVACY Squish has no backend. No analytics. No telemetry. No third-party scripts. Your images are loaded into an in-memory canvas, compressed, and handed back to you. The moment you close the extension, everything is gone. Nothing is stored, cached, or transmitted.
