Overview

Highlight text on any webpage and save it locally to view in Spotlight.

Spotlight Marker turns any web page into something you can mark up and keep. Select text, click the little marker button that appears, and the passage is saved — along with the sentence around it, the page title and address, and a link that jumps straight back to that exact spot on the page. Everything stays on your computer. Spotlight Marker uses only your browser's local storage. There is no account, no sign-in, and nothing is ever sent to a server. What you can do • Highlight text on any site with one click • Keep the surrounding context and a deep link back to the source • See how many highlights you've saved from the toolbar popup • Export everything as Markdown, HTML, JSON, or a printable PDF • Open the companion site, Spotlight, to browse your highlights, sort them into folders, and have one resurfaced each visit Permissions • Storage — to save your highlights locally so they persist between sessions • Access to page content — so the marker button can work on any site you visit. It only reads the text you select, only when you click save. No tracking, no analytics, no remote code.
