HOW IT WORKS Reading an ESPN article, exploring an athlete on Wikipedia or searching Google? Click the Sportsmetric toolbar icon. The extension checks the current page’s title, main heading and structured person/team metadata to suggest matching Sportsmetric profiles. No typing is needed when detection finds a covered profile. You can also search manually. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Detect possible athlete and team matches when you open the extension. • Preview up to 10 matching profiles. • Filter results to athletes, teams or both. • See recorded Instagram follower counts and observation dates when available. • Open Sportsmetric profiles for further research. CONTROLLED PAGE ACCESS Detection runs only when you open the extension or click “Detect this page.” It uses temporary active-tab access—not continuous browsing monitoring. The extension does not scan full article bodies, read browsing history or form inputs, or insert statistics into websites. It sends locally extracted candidate names to Sportsmetric to retrieve matches. It does not send page URLs or full page documents. DETECTION LIMITS Detection can miss names, and people can share names. Confirm the sport and team before relying on a match. Some pages restrict extension access; manual search remains available. UNDERSTANDING THE NUMBERS Follower counts are recorded observations—not live figures, unique fans, athletic performance, sponsorship prices or ROI.
