Overview

Turn long web pages into two to five connected columns with synchronized scrolling and page turns.

● Split Scroll Viewer Split Scroll Viewer is a Chrome extension that makes long web pages and vertical comics easier to read, using a layout similar to facing pages in an e-book. On a PC, articles may leave large unused margins, while advertisements, rankings, related links, and other side panels can reduce the width available for the main text. Split Scroll Viewer displays the main content as two to five connected columns only when you need it, making better use of widescreen displays for reading. After splitting, the content that follows the bottom of the left page continues from the top of the page to its right. Side panels and auxiliary columns that can be identified as non-content are excluded where possible, leaving more room for the main text. ● Basic operation 1. Pin Split Scroll Viewer from Chrome's extensions menu. 2. Click the extension icon next to the address bar. 3. Select between two and five columns and choose a reading mode. 4. Click Apply to split the current page. To return to the original page, select OFF in the popup or use the s → 1 shortcut. ● Two reading modes The default mode is Horizontal page turns. It lets you move backward and forward one spread at a time, much like an e-book. • On-screen previous and next buttons • ArrowLeft / ArrowRight • Page Up / Page Down If you prefer normal vertical scrolling, select Continuous scroll from the popup. Your selected reading mode is remembered and used as the default for new tabs. The column count is remembered separately for each page URL. Reloading the same page restores its previous column count, while other pages can use their own settings. ● Keyboard shortcuts Press s and then a number key. You do not need to hold Shift while entering the shortcut. • s → 1: Turn split view off • s → 2: Use two columns • s → 3: Use three columns • s → 4: Use four columns • s → 5: Use five columns If you are typing in an input field, or if the page uses conflicting keyboard controls, use the popup instead. ● Main features • Read long articles and vertical comics in two to five connected columns • Continue naturally from the bottom of one page to the top of the next • Choose between horizontal page turns and continuous synchronized scrolling • Reduce sidebars, auxiliary columns, and excessive margins where possible • Avoid leaving unused space after removable side panels are excluded • Convert long article content inside fixed or sticky containers into normal vertical content • Preserve the original displayed size of images, SVGs, and videos to prevent unwanted enlargement • Handle text and images that are added dynamically after the initial page load • Support image- and canvas-based viewers including NAVER Webtoon, Piccoma, and LINE Manga • Continue preloading comic images even when page turns catch up with loading • Restore the normal page when split view is turned off • Keep the original page when it cannot be split safely, instead of showing an incomplete result • Collect no browsing content, URLs, cookies, or other user data, and send no page content to external servers ● Important notes Perfect rendering cannot be guaranteed on every website. Pages with complex layouts, protected content, browser-internal pages, or unusual rendering methods may not be compatible. In that case, the extension displays an unavailable message and leaves the original page unchanged. ● Recent updates v1.2.11 • Renamed the extension to “Split Scroll Viewer” in English and “分割スクロールビューワー” in Japanese • Added English and Japanese localization for the extension name and summary based on Chrome's display language v1.2.10 • Added two- to five-column support for NAVER Webtoon, Piccoma, and LINE Manga • Improved full-story preloading to prevent blank pages while reading vertical comics • Fixed canvas gaps, overlaps, and repeated content after page turns • Preserved Piccoma's end-of-story controls for opening the next episode or work page • Changed column-count storage from per-tab to per-page URL • Prevented article content from disappearing when Next.js pages are split shortly after loading v1.2.8 • Reduced unused space left after side panels are removed • Prevented long article content inside sticky containers from disappearing • Expanded real-page testing across different load timings and window sizes v1.2.7 and earlier • Added horizontal page turns, continuous scrolling, two to five columns, and keyboard shortcuts • Improved support for fixed layouts, Shadow DOM, and dynamically rendered content • Improved size preservation and delayed rendering for images, video, and canvas elements • Fixed stability issues when turning split view off or replacing an older split layout • Reduced the extension's permissions to storage only
