Overview

Build a spelling list from any page, a ready-made topic, or a photo of a worksheet, then practise it on Spelly.

Turn any word list into spelling practice. Your child's spelling list is already somewhere on a screen — a Google Classroom assignment, the school website, a newsletter — or on a sheet of paper at the bottom of their bag. Spelly turns any of them into a list you can practise, without retyping a single word. THREE WAYS TO BUILD A LIST • From the page you're on. Spelly spots a spelling list and shows you the words. No list on the page? It can pick out the words worth practising from the text instead. • From a ready-made topic. 73 curated lists — animals, space, dinosaurs, the human body, the weather — built into the extension. No account needed. • From a photo. Photograph the worksheet, or drop in a screenshot, and Spelly reads the words off it. You can also highlight words on any page, right-click, and choose "Add to Spelly". Nothing is saved until you have looked at it. Tap any word to drop it, name the list yourself, then practise it in Spelly — on this computer, a tablet, or the Android app. WHAT STAYS ON YOUR COMPUTER, AND WHAT DOESN'T Finding a spelling list on a page happens entirely on your own computer. Spelly reads the shape of the page, checks the words against a dictionary built into the extension, and forgets what it saw. The pages you browse are never sent to us or to anyone else, and the address of the page you are on never leaves the extension. Two things do go to Spelly's servers, and only when you ask for them: • The word list you press Save on. • A photo you choose to upload. It is read by an AI text-recognition service to get the words off it, and is not kept afterwards. There is no tracking, no analytics and no advertising in this extension. You can switch off automatic page checking at any time and still build lists by hand. WHAT'S FREE, AND WHAT USES SPARKS A free Spelly account comes with 100 sparks. They are the only limit, and this is the whole of it: • Free, always — finding a spelling list on a page, picking a ready-made topic, reviewing and naming your list, and saving it. Everything this extension does on its own costs nothing, because it happens on your own computer. • Uses sparks — reading a photo costs 15, because it runs AI on Spelly's servers. Practising on spelly.net costs 1 per word. So 100 sparks is roughly six photos, or about eight word lists practised, or any mix of the two. Unlimited is a single $29 payment. One payment, not a subscription, and it does not expire. You will never be asked for money inside this extension. There is no upgrade button and no checkout here; the paid option lives on spelly.net if you decide you want it. ABOUT ACCOUNTS A free Spelly account is needed to save lists, to see lists you have already saved, and to read photos. Building a list from a page or from a topic works without one. You sign in on spelly.net in an ordinary tab — the extension never sees your password. You can sign out from inside the extension too, which matters on a shared family computer. GOOD TO KNOW English only for now: both the dictionary and the extension's own interface are British and American English. Spelly is a spelling practice app for children, at https://spelly.net
