View code, notebooks, and archives directly in Canvas SpeedGrader. Everything stays in your browser.

Stop downloading and unzipping files for every single student. Canvas' built-in SpeedGrader can only preview a few file types, forcing instructors and TAs to download Python scripts, Verilog files, notebooks, and ZIP archives by hand. SpeedView adds a customizable, resizable drawer right next to the SpeedGrader grading panel so you can view everything in-browser. KEY FEATURES • Instant Archive Browsing: View the contents of .zip, .tar, and .gz archives (including nested archives) without downloading or unzipping. Download individual files directly from an archive when needed. • Syntax-Highlighted Source Code. • Interactive Waveform Viewer (.vcd): View digital signals GTKWave-style with cursor values, zoom, and pan. Load signal lists from student .gtkw files or your own templates. PRIVACY & FERPA COMPLIANCE Student data never leaves your browser. • Files are fetched directly from your school's Canvas site, rendered in memory, and discarded when you close or refresh the page. • No external servers, no analytics, no third-party services, and no remotely loaded code. QUICK SETUP Upon installation, the settings page will open. Add your school's Canvas domain (e.g., canvas.yourschool.edu) and approve access. Instructure-hosted sites (*.instructure.com) are supported by default. (You can also enable SpeedView anytime by clicking the extension icon while on your Canvas site). Open any assignment in Canvas SpeedGrader and click the "SpeedView" tab on the edge of the screen (or press Alt+Shift+V).
