Speed Lab – Playback Speed Controller
Overview
Fast, reliable playback speed controls for YouTube with custom rates, shortcuts, and remembered preferences.
Speed Lab adds precise, unobtrusive playback-speed controls to YouTube. Change speed from a compact control inside the YouTube player, choose a common preset, or enter an exact rate from the extension popup. Speed Lab is designed for lectures, tutorials, podcasts, interviews, and other videos where YouTube’s standard speed options feel limited. Features: • Set exact custom playback speeds • Use quick presets for 1×, 1.25×, 1.5×, 2×, and 3× • Increase, decrease, reset, or return to your previous speed with keyboard shortcuts • Hold B for temporary 2× playback • Remember speed for the current tab, across all videos, or not at all • Use separate defaults for standard videos and Shorts • Restore your preferred speed as YouTube changes videos and pages • Continue working across playlists and fullscreen playback • Handle browser playback-speed limits without repeated errors Private by design: Speed Lab runs only on YouTube. It does not require an account, use analytics, collect video titles, or transmit browsing history. Your preferences are stored locally in Chrome. Speed Lab is an independent extension and is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google.
