Spartan Shield (formerly Zenith Guard) blocks ads, trackers and dangerous websites, and warns you about the scams that lists can't catch yet. It all happens inside your browser. There is no account, no cloud service and no data collection: every filter list ships inside the extension and runs on your device. WHAT IT BLOCKS • Ads: 8,000+ ad networks, exchanges, video ad servers and in-app ad SDKs, plus popunders and push-notification prompt networks • Trackers: analytics, session recorders, error trackers, fingerprinting scripts, data brokers, affiliate trackers and device telemetry • Dangerous sites: known phishing, malware, scam, fraud and cryptojacking domains are stopped before the page loads, with a clear block page and a one-click way back • Tracking parameters: removes utm_*, fbclid, gclid and similar tags from links • Ad leftovers: hides empty ad boxes, sponsored listings and recommendation widgets • Social widgets: scripts on other websites (with its own switch) • Cookie pop-ups: blocks cookie-consent banner scripts (with its own switch) • YouTube ads (experimental): removes ad segments from the video player and skips video ads that slip through SCAM AND PHISHING PROTECTION • NEW · Get me out: spots tech-support scam pages that lock your screen with a fake virus alert. It frees your keyboard and mouse, mutes the alarm and closes the page with one click • NEW · First sign-in check: the first time you type a password on a site you've never signed in to, it asks you to double-check the address. Only scrambled fingerprints of those sites are kept, on your device • Scam copy guard: stops fake "verify you are human" pages from secretly copying malware commands to your clipboard, and shows you what they tried • Fake site warnings: spots addresses that imitate brands, such as paypa1.com, apple-id-verify.top or look-alike letters from other alphabets • Password safety: warns before you type a password on a page without HTTPS, on a bare IP address, or on a suspected fake site • Notification blocker: stops sites from asking to send notifications, a common route for fake virus alerts • Dangerous sites are blocked with a clear page that shows the address and an "Advanced: proceed anyway" option PRIVACY EXTRAS • Clean redirect links: skips the tracking step in links from social networks • Do-not-sell signal: sends Global Privacy Control, which websites must honour under several privacy laws OPTIONAL FAMILY FILTERS Turn on adult-site blocking or gambling-site blocking with one switch. Both are off until you turn them on and use bundled domain lists from The Block List Project. FULL CONTROL • Popup with Shields and Safety tabs, and an optional side panel next to any page • NEW · Pause on this site with one click, and a count of blocked requests on the toolbar icon • Turn every shield on or off separately, or pause everything at once • Allow trusted websites through all filters • Built-in "Test blocking" page to confirm your filters are active PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Uses Chrome's built-in Declarative Net Request engine, so the extension never reads or logs your requests • No analytics, no telemetry, no remote code and no filter downloads while you browse • Settings are saved only in this browser profile • Lightweight stand-in scripts keep sites working when their ad or analytics scripts are blocked • Built not to break the web: big platforms keep working on their own sites, and links you click always open Spartan Shield is free and open source under the MIT License.
