Overview
Boolean & x-ray sourcing for recruiters. Plain words in, expert searches out. Works on a Chromebook. Never touches LinkedIn.
This recruiting tool is a wizard — in every sense of the word. It guides you step by step, like a wizard should: you type plain words — skills, titles, a city — and it writes the professional boolean search for you. It does what looks like sorcery: type "Baltimore" and your search quietly carries every phone area code of the metro, the way a 20-year sourcer would have built it by hand. And somewhere along the way, it turns you into the wizard. REMEMBER HOW THE CHORE USED TO GO? Read who the candidate works for… type the company into your tracker… hunt for the company's website… double-check that's really where their email lives… visit an email-format site and decode how the company writes its addresses… then piece together your candidate's likely email. Five stops and a lot of typing — for every single candidate. NOW? Highlight their current job on the profile you're reading, right-click, and choose "Send selection to Sourcer's Desk." Company, title, website, mail-check, and real email format — done before you've moved your mouse. WHAT'S ON THE DESK: • A step-by-step search wizard — plain words in, expert xray searches out (Bing or Google) • Pre-wired phone-number intelligence: verified area codes for 46 U.S. metros, applied automatically to open-web resume hunts • LinkedIn's own location phrasing, picked from autocomplete — candidates genuinely tied to your market, not keyword accidents • One-click capture from the results page into client-organized projects — run your full desk • Real company email formats, read from published sources (consensus of SignalHire.com + Email-Format.com) — never guessed, never fabricated • A silent-relaxation detector that catches search engines quietly dropping your location • ATS-ready CSV export, JSON backups, and a built-in Guide that teaches the craft as you use it IF YOU ARE RUNNING A CHROMEBOOK, SOURCER'S DESK IS BUILT FOR YOU. Most sourcing software still assumes a Windows laptop and a budget: install this desktop app, buy that per-seat license, renew it every year. On a Chromebook, the installers simply will not run — ChromeOS does not take .exe files — and the enterprise sourcing platforms cost more per year than the machine did. So Chromebook recruiters get told, in effect, to go buy a different computer. They should not have to. By running entirely on ChromeOS, Sourcer's Desk turns the one thing a Chromebook does best — the browser — into a complete sourcing desk, with no compromise and nothing missing compared to a Windows machine. Sourcing happens on the public web anyway, which is exactly what ChromeOS is built for. Nothing to install beyond the extension, no companion desktop app, no background service. Your projects, candidates, notes and email formats live in the browser's own storage on your own machine — no account, no cloud, no sync, nothing to configure. Sign in to a Chromebook, add the extension, and your whole desk is there. It fits the way ChromeOS work already happens. Your ATS is almost certainly a web app already — Greenhouse, Lever, Bullhorn and the rest run fine in a Chromebook browser — and this sits alongside it, feeding it. Export candidates to CSV for the ATS, keep JSON backups in your Downloads folder or Drive, and run the whole search-capture-contact loop in tabs. This matters for a specific set of people: solo and agency recruiters watching costs, students and career-changers breaking into sourcing, recruiters at schools and non-profits issued Chromebooks by their employer, and anyone working on locked-down hardware where installing software is not an option. A Chromebook is not a lesser machine for this work. The craft is knowing the search operators — and this writes them for you. WHY WE BUILT IT THIS WAY — the account-safety story: sourcerdesk.com/safety.html AND THE PART THAT MATTERS MOST: IT NEVER TOUCHES LINKEDIN. No login, no automation, no scraping — the extension is not even loaded on LinkedIn pages, and the browser itself enforces that (open the manifest: linkedin.com appears nowhere). You search the public web and read profiles yourself, as yourself. That's why it can't put your account — or your Recruiter seat — at risk. Your data stays on your machine: no account, no cloud, no analytics, nothing sold. Full policy: https://sourcerdesk.com/privacy.html Built by a 20-year recruiter who did every one of these chores by hand.
