Save the recipe on any page straight to your Sorrel library.

Save the recipe. Leave the rest of the page behind. Sorrel takes the recipe on the page you are reading — the ingredients, the steps, the times — and puts it in your recipe library, without the nine hundred words about a trip to Tuscany, without the pop-ups, and without you copying and pasting a single line. Open a recipe. Click the Sorrel icon. Look at what it found. Save it. The whole thing takes about four seconds. HOW IT WORKS 1. You are on a recipe page. Click the Sorrel leaf in your toolbar. 2. Sorrel reads the page and shows you the recipe it found — photo, title, times, servings, ingredients, steps. 3. Fix anything the page got wrong, then save. No account is needed to start, and nothing is saved until you press the button. IT SHOWS YOU WHAT IT FOUND, BEFORE IT SAVES Most save buttons are a black box. You click, something happens, and you find out three weeks later — at the stove, with your hands covered in flour — that the ingredients stopped halfway down. Sorrel shows you the recipe first, in an editor you can type in. Title, prep, cook and total time, servings, every ingredient, every step. It also tells you what it read the recipe from, so you know which parts came off the page and which are still yours to fill in. IT ADMITS WHEN A PAGE BEAT IT Some sites bury the recipe in a widget. Some spell out the good part only in a photo. When Sorrel cannot read all of it, it says so, shows you what it did get, and lets you finish the job — here, or later on your phone. What it will not do is hand you a recipe with holes in it and let you discover them halfway through dinner. IT REMEMBERS WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY SAVED Open a page you saved months ago and Sorrel tells you, by name, instead of quietly making a second copy. It keeps a small index of your own library in the browser to answer that question without asking the network. NO ACCOUNT? A QR CODE WORKS JUST AS WELL Not signed in, Sorrel hands you a QR code. Point your phone at it and the app opens the recipe and adds it to your library. No email, nothing to join, and the link keeps working for 30 days. This is not a teaser with a countdown on it. It is a real way to use the extension for as long as you like, and it never asks you for anything. IT LANDS ON YOUR PHONE Sign in and a saved recipe is in your library within seconds — in the browser, on your phone, and in the household you share a cookbook with. Signing in takes a six-character code and no password: in Sorrel on your phone, go to Settings → Sync → Link another device, and type the code it shows into the extension. The extension joins the account your phone already has. It cannot create one, and it never sees your password. AND THEN THERE IS THE APP The extension is one door into Sorrel — a calm, ad-free home for everything you cook. Behind it: • A recipe library with no cap on it, free, searchable by title or ingredient in a second flat. • Cooking mode: big, glanceable steps that keep the screen awake while you work. • Scaling and units: half a recipe up to triple, metric or imperial, with the arithmetic done for you. • A weekly meal plan you build by dropping recipes onto days. • One grocery list, grouped by aisle or by recipe, filled from a single recipe or the whole week in a tap. • Collections, tags and favourites — and Sorrel remembers when you last cooked something, so the things you have not made in a while are easy to find again. • Recipes read out of cooking videos from TikTok, Instagram and YouTube — the caption, the narration, and what is only ever shown on screen. • A cookbook page, a recipe card, or your grandmother's handwriting, scanned into an editable recipe. • Nutrition estimates worked out on the phone itself, never sent anywhere. • Backup and restore in one file, import from Paprika and other apps, and export whenever you want. Sorrel for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.burnsoft.sorrel WHAT IT SENDS, AND WHAT IT DOES NOT The extension has no recipe parser of its own — Sorrel's server does that reading, the same one the app uses, so every device understands a recipe the same way. When you click the icon, and only when you click it, the extension reads six things off the open tab: the page's structured recipe data, its title, its headings, its preview image, the site's name, and the visible text. Those go to Sorrel's own server, which works out what the recipe is and sends it back. • It never sends the page's HTML. • It never reads a page you have not clicked the icon on. There is no content script and no background script; nothing of Sorrel is running while you browse. • It talks to one server — api.sorrelapp.io — and the extension is only permitted to reach that one host. You can check that in the permissions list. • There is no analytics in it. No tracking, no third-party scripts, nothing counting what you read. • The credential your account issues this browser stays in this browser. It is deliberately not put into Chrome Sync. WHAT IS FREE AND WHAT IS NOT The extension is free, and it does not sell you anything. Reading a recipe off a page is free and unlimited. Saving it by QR code is free. The recipe library in the app is free, with no cap. Meal planning, collections and the grocery list are free. Syncing straight into your library — the part where it is on your phone before you close the tab — is Sorrel Pro, the subscription sold in the Android app, along with video import and scanning. If you are not a subscriber the QR code does the same job, and nothing is lost. THE FINE PRINT Chrome 120 or newer. The extension is in English; the app speaks ten languages.
