Sombre turns every website dark, and keeps it readable. NO WHITE FLASH A dark base layer is in place before the page first paints, then every stylesheet of the page gets a dark version computed for it: backgrounds, text, borders, shadows, gradients and icons. Pages load dark, even on the first visit. READABLE TEXT, GUARANTEED Light grey captions, timestamps and placeholders are lifted to a minimum contrast (APCA) on their actual background. Choose the level: Soft, Standard or High. COLORS KEEP THEIR MEANING Sombre does not invert the page. Brand colors, links, buttons, tags and charts keep their hue; only lightness changes where it must. Dark icons on transparent backgrounds are inverted so they stay visible. RESPECTS SITES THAT ALREADY HAVE A DARK THEME When a site ships its own dark mode, Sombre detects it, turns it on when it can, and only darkens what stays light. ONE CLICK PER SITE From the toolbar: follow your default, always dark, or never on this site. Alt+Shift+D toggles the current site. FIX ANY ELEMENT Something looks wrong? Pick it on the page and keep it original, invert it or force it dark. Fixes are remembered for the site and can be exported. A shared, signed list of fixes for popular sites is updated daily.
