Focus sessions, not blanket blocking - rules that change with your work. Solidmind is a focus extension for people who work and study in a browser. Instead of one global blocklist, every kind of work gets its own workspace: its own block rules, its own timer, and optionally its own tabs. Start a focus session, and the sites that don't belong to this work are softly blurred - with the rule you wrote named right on the overlay. Switch to a different kind of work, and the rules switch with it. ONE SITE, TWO WORKSPACES Start a session on "Write newsletter" - GitHub blurs, and the overlay tells you which of your rules fired. End it, start "Client X code" - GitHub is back, and the news site blurs instead. Same browser, same site, nothing to re-edit. That is the problem with every ordinary website blocker: one always-the-same list is too strict for one task and too loose for the next, so you stop maintaining it. Solidmind attaches the rules to the work instead of the browser. BLUR, NOT A WALL A hard block page feels like punishment. A blurred page is a coach's hand on your shoulder: it names the rule you wrote and offers a way out sized to the commitment you chose. • Open - no enforcement at all. Just the timer and your tabs, for days when structure is enough. • Standard - blurred pages can be unlocked for 5 or 10 minutes when a tangent is actually legitimate. Enough rope to check one real thing, not enough to fall into the feed. • Strict - your rules are pinned the moment the session starts: no unlocking, no mid-session loosening. Typing END is the only exit. Built for the night before the exam. YOUR RULES DECIDE - ALWAYS Enforcement is 100% deterministic: a page is blurred only when a rule you wrote covers it, and the overlay always names that rule. No algorithm gets a vote, so your docs, dashboards, and repos are never wrongly blurred by a guess. If you want help noticing distractions, there is an optional AI assistant. It runs on your device, and it can only *suggest* - an off-topic page may earn a small toast offering a one-tap block. It has no authority to blur anything. Its worst failure is a suggestion you ignore; a wrongly blocked page is impossible. EVERYTHING THAT'S IN THE BOX • Focus sessions - pick a workspace, start the timer, work. During a break the blur lifts so you can breathe, then snaps back for the next block. • Quick block - a new time-sink shows up mid-session? Right-click → block it for this session. Two clicks, no settings screen. At the end, one sheet asks whether to keep the rule in the workspace. • Saved tab sets - reopen a workspace's exact tabs tomorrow and resume where your brain left off. • Stats & insights - your focused time per workspace and how often your rules had to step in. Facts, never grades: no streak guilt, no shaming. • Session summary - when the timer ends, see what the session looked like and decide what to keep. Whether it's deep work between meetings, studying for an exam, or shipping client projects, the pattern is the same: block distracting websites for this work, keep them available for the work where they belong, and stay focused for the length of a session - not forever. PRIVACY, PLAINLY By default, Solidmind reads no page content at all. Deciding whether to blur is a comparison of a page's domain against the block rules you wrote - no page text is involved. Only the optional AI assistant analyzes pages, and it runs on your device (a small model, downloaded only after you turn it on). Analyzed on your device by default; nothing is sent anywhere unless you explicitly enable a clearly-labeled cloud feature. ABOUT THE PERMISSION CHROME ASKS FOR Installing Solidmind carries no "read your data on all websites" warning. Chrome asks for site access only when you start your first blurring (Standard or Strict) session - exactly when you've asked Solidmind to blur. The blur overlay needs to be able to run on any page your rules might cover; it still reads no page content by default. Open mode never asks at all.
