K Index è l'indice dell'attività geomagnetica del posto di rilevamento aggiornato ogni tre ore, ed ha una scala da 0 a 9 che misura la deviazione delle componenti orizzontali del campo magnetico terrestre ed indica l'entità di assorbimento delle onde radio da parte degli strati bassi della ionosfera a frequenze inferiori ai 5 MHz.
