)Overview
Research extension for a University of Washington study about social media feeds. For invited study participants only.
SocialScope is a browser extension for a research study run by the University of Washington (IRB protocol STUDY00026694). It is meant only for people who were invited to the study through Prolific and agreed to the consent form on the study website. Installing it without an invitation does nothing. What it does - After you agree to take part and press Start on x.com, it saves a snapshot of your X activity for the study: posts in your For You and Following feeds, and your own posts, replies, reposts and likes. - It shows a short survey on the X page while this runs. - When you finish, it switches itself off. You can then remove it. What it never does - Post, like, reply, follow or change anything on your X account. - Read your direct messages or see your password. - Run on any website other than x.com and the study website. - Sell your data or use it for advertising. Taking part is voluntary. You can withdraw at any time from the survey, or by removing the extension.
