Overview

Weather and tide for your eBird checklist, just like SnowRaven, in one click.

SnowRaven Mini puts SnowRaven's weather and tide on your eBird checklist page. Open the popup on a checklist's Edit Comments page and it does the rest. It reads the checklist's location and time from eBird, fetches the historical weather from OpenWeather and the tide from NOAA, formats them the same way as the SnowRaven desktop app, and copies the weather block straight to your clipboard. Switch to the comment field and paste. The tide block sits right below with its own copy button. It is a small, focused companion to SnowRaven, for birders who do their checklist editing in the browser. WHAT IT DOES - One click turns the checklist you are editing into a ready-to-paste weather block. - Shows the tide for US coastal checklists from the nearest NOAA station, and tells you honestly when the nearest station is too far away or inland. - Light and dark themes, following your system setting. - Built for keyboard and screen-reader use (WCAG 2.1 AA). YOUR KEYS, YOUR DEVICE - SnowRaven Mini has no servers and collects nothing. - You bring your own two free API keys, for eBird and OpenWeather. They are stored only on your device and each is sent only to its own service. NOAA tide data needs no key. - There is no analytics, no tracking, and no account. WHAT YOU NEED - A free eBird API key (ebird.org/api/keygen). - A free OpenWeather "One Call by Call" key (openweathermap.org/api). Enter them once on the Settings page and you are set. WHAT IT IS NOT - It does not replace the SnowRaven desktop app. - There are no maps, no life lists or stats, no media, and no CSV import. - It does one job: the weather and tide comment blocks, in your browser.
