Overview

Save, search, and copy API keys, tokens, and code snippets locally in your browser — without digging through .env files.

Keep the developer text you reuse close at hand. SnippetVault is a local-first Chrome extension for saving webpage selections and manually entered snippets — access keys, tokens, endpoints, commands, notes — and finding them again when you need them. ✨ Save without a form - Select content on a webpage and press Command/Ctrl+C twice. The first copy is a normal browser copy; the second saves the selection as Markdown with its page title and URL. - A short confirmation offers Undo, Move to vault, or turning quick save off for the current page or site. - Common credential formats are labeled for you, detected locally: AWS and Alibaba Cloud access key IDs, GitHub tokens, JWTs, sk- API keys, PEM and SSH keys, and database connection strings. - Or create a text or Markdown snippet with New; it remembers the page you were on, and you can remove the source before saving. 🔎 Find it again - Double-press Shift on a webpage, or click the toolbar icon, to open search over the page you are working on. - Search content, labels, and sources, then copy, edit, or delete a result. - Search results in the Vault are grouped by source site. ⏳ Temporary workspace - Quick saves land in a temporary workspace by default. Let short-lived snippets expire, extend them, or move them permanently to the Vault. 🔒 Local by default - No account, cloud sync, or AI service. Optional anonymous usage analytics is off by default and never includes your saved data or searches. - Snippets stay in the extension's local IndexedDB. - Backups are readable YAML files, encrypted with a passphrase by default (AES-256-GCM). A plaintext export is also available. - Records stored in the browser are not encrypted. SnippetVault is not a password manager or encrypted secret vault. Available in English and Simplified Chinese, with light and dark themes. SnippetVault is open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0: https://github.com/biquanneng/snippet-vault If SnippetVault saves you time, a star on GitHub helps other developers find it.
