Sniff It protects you from overpaying on products sold by dropshipping stores and shady Shopify sites. As you browse, it quietly checks whether the item you're looking at is being resold at a huge markup — and shows you visually similar products at fair prices. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT IT DOES -------------------------------------------------------------------------- • Automatic product detection. When you land on a product page, Sniff It recognizes the item, reads its price, and analyzes it in the background. No clicks needed. • Price check. Compares the store's price against typical market rates on major marketplaces (AliExpress, Amazon and similar) and direct-from-manufacturer sources. Flags items that are meaningfully overpriced. • Safety check. Evaluates the domain, TLD, and product category for signals commonly associated with low-quality dropshipping or scam stores. • Reverse image search. The floating puppy on the right edge of every product page opens a panel of visually similar items on AliExpress — sourced by image, not just keywords. You see real products with thumbnails, prices and sales counts, and can click straight through. • Variant aware. Pick a different color or size and Sniff It uses the variant image you're actually looking at, not the default-color photo. • Respects real brands. If you're on nike.com buying Nike, or ray-ban.com buying Ray-Ban, Sniff It skips the "you're overpaying" alert — you can't get the genuine item cheaper elsewhere — but the puppy stays so you can still browse similar styles. • Per-site mute. Don't want alerts on a particular store? Click "Don't show on this site again" on any overpriced alert and it won't interrupt you there again. Manage muted sites from the settings popup. • Recent sniffs. The extension popup keeps a scrollable history of every product you've checked — thumbnail, title, price, store. Click a row to reopen the original page, or the find-cheaper button to pull up alternatives in one click. Delete entries individually or clear them all. • Currency aware. Detects the store's currency from the page and converts to your preferred display currency using daily exchange rates. You visit a product page on any store. 2. Sniff It extracts the title, price, currency and the active variant image. 3. It sends that metadata to a price-analysis service that estimates the typical market range and flags inflated prices. 4. If the deal looks overpriced or risky, a compact modal appears with a Safety tab and a Price tab — you see how much more you'd pay, what similar items sell for, and why the store was flagged. 5. Click "See Better Options" — or the floating puppy on the right edge of the page — to open a grid of visually and keyword-matched products you can buy for less. Nothing happens on pages that aren't product pages.
