SnapText Pro — Screenshot to Text (OCR)
Overview
Instantly extract text from any screenshot or screen region using on-device OCR.
SnapText Pro is a lightweight utility that allows you to extract text from images and webpages using on-device Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Instead of manually typing out text from images, videos, or documents, you can capture a specific area of your screen and the extension will convert the visual text into editable text. Key Features: • Select & Extract: Use the crop tool to highlight any region of your current webpage to extract the text. • Local Processing: The OCR process is powered by Tesseract.js and runs entirely within your browser locally. • Clipboard Integration: Extracted text can be quickly copied to your clipboard for use in other applications. How to use: Click the SnapText Pro icon in your browser toolbar or use the designated keyboard shortcut. Click and drag to select the area of your screen containing the text you want to extract. Wait a moment for the local OCR to process the image, and the text will be provided to you. Permissions Justification: SnapText Pro requires the "activeTab" and "scripting" permissions strictly to capture a screenshot of the active tab and overlay the selection crop tool, which is necessary to perform the OCR text extraction.
