Overview

Save snapshots of your tab groups and restore them later.

Save your Chrome tab groups as snapshots and bring them back in one click. Keep a "Work" set, a "Research" set and a "Trip" set of tab groups, and switch between them whenever you like. A snapshot remembers each group's name and color and the address of every page in it. 1. SAVE YOUR GROUPS Click the toolbar button, type a name and press Enter. Leave the name empty to use today's date, like "10/31/2026 Groups". • Saves the groups in the current window, or in all windows with the "Snapshot groups in all windows" switch. • Ungrouped tabs are ignored, and duplicate pages are saved once. 2. RESTORE THEM LATER Click the toolbar button and pick a snapshot. • Groups that are already open are topped up with any missing pages. Nothing is closed, and open tabs keep their history. • Groups that are not open are recreated with their pages, name and color. • Your other groups and ungrouped tabs are left alone. 3. FINE-TUNE A SNAPSHOT Open the options page and click Update on a snapshot. • Rename the snapshot, rename or recolor its groups, or delete a group. • Edit, add, reorder or remove the pages in each group. • Give a page a nickname that replaces its tab title when restored. A single space hides the title and keeps only the site icon, which is handy for crowded tab strips. 4. USE THEM ON ALL YOUR COMPUTERS Auto sync (on by default) keeps your snapshots in your Chrome account, so they appear wherever you are signed in to Chrome. Edits and deletions on one computer reach the others. A progress bar shows how much of Chrome's 100 KB sync space you use; past that, snapshots are saved on this computer only. Turn auto sync off on the options page anytime. PRIVACY • Snapshots are saved on your computer and, with auto sync on, in your own Chrome account. Nothing is sent to the developer or anyone else. • No accounts, no tracking, no ads. Uninstalling deletes all data. PERMISSIONS • Tab groups and tabs: read your groups and their page addresses when saving, open and group pages when restoring. • Storage: keep your snapshots. • Scripting and optional site access: only for page nicknames, to set the title of tabs the extension restored. Chrome asks for it the first time you save a nickname. Chrome's own pages (chrome://, the Web Store) can't be renamed. TIPS • Name your groups in Chrome before saving. Restore matches groups by name, so named groups are updated in place instead of opened twice. • Closed groups in Chrome's own saved-groups list are invisible to extensions. Reopen one first if you want a restore to update it.
