SnapInsight is a lightweight AI reading assistant powered by Chrome’s on-device Prompt API. Select a word or concept on any webpage and hover over the SI indicator to receive an instant explanation without leaving the page. Key features: • Generate concise explanations by selecting text and hovering over SI • Expand explanations to include definitions, background, use cases, and examples • Stream responses directly into the webpage • Copy, regenerate, or cancel an explanation at any time • Run with Chrome’s on-device AI model without a SnapInsight backend Privacy by design: • Processes only text explicitly selected by the user • Does not read surrounding paragraphs, page titles, browsing history, or form content • Does not store selected text or generated responses • Does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, telemetry, or remote code • Does not send selected text to SnapInsight or third-party model servers Requirements: • Chrome 138 or later • A device that meets Chrome’s on-device model requirements • The local model must be prepared from the extension’s device status page before first use Language availability and output quality depend on Chrome’s current on-device model implementation.
