No barcode hunting, no giant food database to search, no account to create. It's yours, and it's private. SnapBite has no server and no account. Your meal log lives in your browser on your own device, and nothing is ever sent to us — because there's no "us" to send it to. The only time data leaves your machine is the moment you ask for an estimate, and then it goes straight to the AI provider you chose. Bring your own key (BYOK). SnapBite is free and open source. You plug in your own API key from the provider you like, and the extension talks directly to it. That keeps it free to run and puts you in control of your data and your costs. Works with the AI you choose. Connect the provider that fits your budget — Chinese-first options like Qwen, DeepSeek, and Kimi keep costs low, or run a local model so nothing leaves your device.
