Overview

Take a photo or record a quick video, then drop it straight into any file upload field on the page.

Snap & Drop turns your webcam into a file picker. Some sites want a photo of a receipt, an ID, a damaged part, a meter reading — and the only way in is a file upload button. Normally that means: pick up your phone, take the photo, email or AirDrop it to yourself, save it somewhere, find it again in the file dialog, upload it. Snap & Drop replaces all of that with one motion. HOW IT WORKS Click the Snap & Drop toolbar icon on the page you're filling out. A small capture window opens next to your browser. Take a photo or record a short clip, then drag the preview straight onto the upload button on the page. That's it — the file is in, and the operating system's file dialog never opens. If you can't fit both windows on screen at once, there's a two-step path instead: click "Pick upload area on page", click the upload button in your tab, then come back and press Insert. Snap & Drop works with both kinds of upload control — genuine drag-and-drop zones, and the far more common "click this button and a file dialog opens" style, including buttons backed by a hidden file input. • Photo mode — instant JPEG capture • Video mode — record up to 60 seconds with audio • Switch between multiple cameras • Retake as many times as you like before inserting PRIVACY Snap & Drop has no servers, no analytics, and makes no network requests at all. Your captures never leave your computer — they live in the capture window's memory and are discarded when you close it. The only place a capture goes is the upload field you point it at. It also requests no permanent access to any website. Snap & Drop uses Chrome's activeTab permission, so it can only touch a page after you explicitly click its toolbar icon there, and that access ends when the tab navigates. It cannot see the sites you visit. GOOD TO KNOW • Chrome blocks all extensions on chrome:// pages and the Web Store — use a regular website. • Drag-and-drop needs both windows visible at once, since it's a real cursor drag. Use the pick-then-insert path if that's awkward. • Upload widgets inside a cross-origin iframe aren't reachable, because activeTab doesn't extend to them. • If a page has several upload fields with no structural link to the button you clicked, Snap & Drop may not be able to tell them apart.
