Snagd
Overview
Convert any browser tab into a task with one right-click.
Snagd turns your browser tab clutter into actionable tasks in a single click. Stop hoarding open tabs that slow down your computer and clutter your focus. Snag them instantly into a structured task list, and restore your context when you are ready. Designed for developers, researchers, freelancers, and power users, Snagd combines tab management with Getting Things Done (GTD) task workflows. WHY SNAGD? If you keep dozens of tabs open just so you do not lose your place, you are wasting computer memory and mental energy. Snagd lets you close tabs guilt-free. You can focus on one thing at a time, knowing all your research and tasks are saved, organized, and ready to restore in one click. ========================================= ★ HOW TO INSTALL (GETTING STARTED) ★ ========================================= 1. Click the "Add to Chrome" button at the top of this page. 2. Once installed, click the puzzle piece icon (Extensions menu) in the top-right corner of your browser. 3. Find "Snagd" and click the pin icon next to it. This keeps the Snagd counter badge visible on your toolbar. 4. (Optional but recommended) Set up your keyboard shortcut. Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts in your address bar. Find Snagd, and set your preferred keys (we suggest Cmd+Shift+S on Mac, or Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows). ========================================= ★ HOW TO USE (STEP-BY-STEP) ★ ========================================= ● CAPTURING TABS There are three ways to save tabs as tasks: 1. Context Menu: Right-click anywhere on a web page and select "Save tab as task". 2. Link Capture: Right-click any link on a page and select "Save tab as task" to save the link without opening it first. 3. Keyboard Hotkey: Press your configured shortcut keys to instantly snag the active tab into your Inbox. ● THE INBOX (UNPROCESSED BUCKET) Every tab you snag goes into your Inbox first. This is your collection point. Use the Inbox to capture things quickly without worrying about sorting them immediately. ● ORGANIZING YOUR AGENDA Click the Snagd toolbar icon to open your dashboard. From there you can: 1. Assign due dates to tasks. 2. Set priority tags (Red for high priority, Orange for medium, Yellow for low, or Green for none). 3. Add custom notes. Click the note pill to toggle a detailed description panel. 4. Edit inline: Click the options button (three dots) on a task card and choose "Edit" to update titles, notes, and dates. 5. Complete: Click the checkbox to mark tasks completed. They will move to your completed history log. ● website projects (workspace switcher) Snagd automatically categorizes your saved tabs by their website domain. 1. Go to the "Projects" tab in the dashboard to see your website folder directory. 2. Click any website folder (like github.com or figma.com) to view all tasks saved from that site. 3. Click "Restore Workspace" to open all tabs in that project folder instantly, clustered into a named Chrome Tab Group. ● GITHUB CLOUD SYNC Keep your tasks backed up and synchronized across multiple devices securely. 1. Open Settings from the navigation bar. 2. Enter a GitHub Personal Access Token (PAT) with "gist" permissions. 3. Click "Backup to Gist". Snagd will create a private, encrypted backup Gist on your account. 4. Copy the Gist ID, paste it into Settings on another device, and click "Restore from Gist" to sync. ========================================= ★ WORKFLOWS FOR PROFESSIONALS ★ ========================================= ● FOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS Save bug reports, stack overflow answers, pull requests, and API documentation tabs. Group them by repository under Projects, and restore them in tab groups when you start coding. ● FOR RESEARCHERS & ACADEMICS Snag journal articles, sources, and reference documents. Add inline notes to capture quotes or citations, and keep track of deadlines with due dates. ● FOR FREELANCERS & DESIGNERS Organize tabs by client websites. Keep project files, brief documents, and design assets grouped together. Switch clients by restoring their project workspaces. ========================================= ★ FAQ ★ ========================================= Q: Is my data private? A: Absolutely. Snagd stores all your data locally in your browser. We do not run servers, track your usage, or sell your data. Your information is entirely yours. Q: How does the backup work? A: It uses GitHub Gists. Your tasks are backed up directly to your own private GitHub account. No third-party servers ever touch your data. Q: Can I export my tasks manually? A: Yes. In the settings panel, you can export all your tasks as a JSON file or a CSV file at any time. Q: What are weekly nudge notifications? A: If you have too many tabs backlog (you can set the limit, like 5 or 10 tasks), Snagd will send a notification once a week to remind you to clean them up. You can toggle this off in settings.
