Subtitle Translator is a Chrome extension that shows instant word-level translations while you watch Netflix, YouTube, Max, or MUBI — just hover over (or click) any word in the subtitles. Built for language learners who watch foreign-language shows and movies. FEATURES - Word translation: every subtitle word can be translated individually, with alternative meanings and pronunciation shown in a tooltip. - Smart pause: the video pauses automatically while you're interacting with a word, and resumes when the tooltip closes. - Personal dictionary: save words you're learning and search/manage them from the extension's popup. - Sentence translation: translate the full subtitle line too, backed by a three-tier fallback so it rarely fails. - Local caching: repeated lookups don't hit the network again — fast and bandwidth-friendly. SUPPORTED PLATFORMS Netflix • YouTube • Max • MUBI CHOOSE YOUR TRANSLATION ENGINE A free translation engine is used by default. You can switch to a different free or paid provider from Settings, and enter your own API key for paid options. The full list of supported providers is available right in the Settings screen. PRIVACY The extension sends no personal data to its developer and does no analytics or ad tracking. Your settings, dictionary, and translation cache stay in your browser only (chrome.storage.local). Only the word/sentence you look up and the language pair are sent to your chosen translation provider. See the privacy policy for full details.
