SmartShield — AI-Assisted Resume Research
7 ratings
)Overview
A research assist tool for recruiters. Surfaces information from public sources and AI-assisted analysis to support resume review.
Free for recruiters. No credit card. Start scanning in seconds. SmartShield surfaces public-source information and AI-text signals on every resume — PDF, web page, or document — right inside Chrome. Open a resume, click Scan, and findings appear color-coded directly on the page or PDF, with sources and confidence levels. SmartShield is a research-assist tool. It does not make hiring decisions, score candidates against each other, or recommend outcomes. The recruiter always decides. WHAT IT DOES - AI-content detection — Surfaces resume sections that show signals consistent with text generated by large language models. Methods may produce false positives. - Employment research — Surfaces information about each claimed role from public business and employment data sources. - Education research — Surfaces information about claimed degrees, institutions, and credentials from public sources. - LinkedIn cross-reference — Surfaces snippets from publicly indexed LinkedIn profiles for the recruiter's review. - Consistency analysis — Surfaces internal inconsistencies in dates, roles, and overlapping claims. - OFAC sanctions check — Public US sanctions-list name match against the candidate's name. - Inline highlights — Color-coded findings appear directly on the PDF or page text. Green = public-source match, red = flagged, orange = AI-content signals, yellow = inconclusive. - Summary score (0–100) and risk tier (low / medium / high / critical) for at-a-glance triage. Every finding cites its source and carries a per-finding disclaimer. SmartShield surfaces information for review — it does not make hiring decisions. WHO IT'S FOR Recruiters, talent-acquisition teams, hiring managers, RPOs, and HR ops teams who want a faster way to surface public information during resume review. WORKS ON - PDF resumes opened in Chrome — any ATS, job board, email attachment, file-share link, or local file - Web-based resumes on candidate portfolios, personal sites, and online CV builders - Google Docs resumes (via the document's own export endpoint) - File previews embedded in Google Drive, Google Chat, Gmail, and Slack HOW IT WORKS 1. Install the extension and pin the SmartShield icon to your Chrome toolbar. Click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar, then click the pin next to SmartShield. 2. Click "Get Started" in the SmartShield popup and accept the recruiter attestation. No signup, no credit card — you're in. 3. Open any resume in Chrome — a PDF, a web page, a Google Doc, or a file preview in your team's inbox or chat. 4. Click Scan. A quick content check confirms the page looks like a resume, then six agents work in parallel: AI-content detection, employment, education, LinkedIn, consistency, and identity. Typical scan completes in 60–180 seconds. 5. Review the color-coded highlights and the findings panel. Hover any finding for the source and confidence. Click for the full report. PRICING - Guest — 10 free scans, no signup required. Click Get Started in the popup and you're scanning in under a minute. - Member — Sign up free at https://cadient.ai/smart-shield to continue past the guest limit. No credit card, no paid tier during the early access. PRIVACY AND SECURITY - Resume text is sent over HTTPS to the SmartShield service when you click Scan. Pages you don't scan are never read or transmitted. - The original resume file and its full text are not retained after processing is complete. - The extension does not collect browsing history, form data, keystrokes, bookmarks, or analytics. No cookies, no fingerprinting, no third-party SDKs. - No remote scripts, stylesheets, or fonts load at runtime — every asset ships inside the extension. Privacy policy: https://cadient.ai/smart-shield/privacy Terms of use: https://cadient.ai/smart-shield/terms Candidate-facing summary: https://cadient.ai/smart-shield/candidate PERMISSIONS, EXPLAINED - Tabs — Reads the URL and title of the active tab so the popup can tell whether you're looking at a PDF or a regular web page, and label the Scan button accordingly. - Host permissions — Required to detect resumes on any hiring tool, job board, file host, or document service you open. The extension only reads page content when you explicitly click Scan; it never reads pages in the background. - Storage — Stores your account token, your one-time attestation acknowledgement, your install identifier (so a guest's 10-scan quota persists across disconnect/reconnect on the same device), and your most-recent scan summary locally. - Web requests (read-only) — Inspects Content-Type response headers to detect PDFs whose URL doesn't end in .pdf. Never blocks, redirects, or modifies any request. - Scripting — Used to attach SmartShield's reader to tabs that were already open before the extension was installed or updated, so you don't need to refresh every page to use Scan.
