SmartKDP is a research tool for self-publishers. Open a paperback on Amazon and it shows the book's estimated sales, monthly royalty and printing cost, worked out from the listed price, the sales rank, and the trim size and page count read off the listing — using the same printing-cost maths as our free KDP calculators, not a rule of thumb. Works on the .com, .co.uk and .de marketplaces. WHAT IT ADDS TO A BOOK'S PAGE • Estimated daily sales and monthly royalty, with the printing cost behind them • Every category rank listed, each with a link • Trim size and ink type as editable, clearly marked fields — the page does not state the ink type, and its measured dimensions straddle the large-trim printing boundary, so the assumption is shown rather than hidden NICHE RESEARCH ON SEARCH RESULTS • A strip under each result with its rank, price, reviews, rating and format • A summary over the whole page: median price, review distribution, price band, and the share of independently published titles • Enough to judge whether a niche is worth entering before you write or design anything BESTSELLER CHART ANALYSIS • Rank against estimated sales across the top slots, with price and format spread • An estimated revenue summary, labelled gross retail rather than author earnings, because those are very different numbers KEYWORD RESEARCH IN THE SEARCH BOX • Start typing and a panel takes the place of the store's suggestion dropdown: everything it would have shown, plus what shoppers search for next after that phrase • Arrow keys and Enter work as they did before; Escape brings the original dropdown back, as does switching the feature off • Stop typing and the phrase expands into a clustered tree of suggestions, grouped by question, buyer-intent and format modifiers, exportable as CSV • Auto-expand is a switch in the panel, which also shows how many free expansions remain HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT DOES NOT KNOW • Every statistic is shown with the sample it came from ("median from 11 of 16") • Where a page cannot support a figure, it says so instead of printing a zero or a dash • On a subcategory bestseller chart the sales-rank column stays empty until you ask for a deeper look, because a #1 in a subcategory is often ranked in the tens of thousands overall YOURS TO SWITCH OFF • Every overlay has a Hide link in its own header, one click from the settings page that turns it back on • Features, marketplaces, theme and diagnostics are all individually controllable NO ACCOUNT NEEDED Everything above works signed out. Connecting a SmartKDP account is optional and adds syncing and saved research, nothing else. Requests to our own server are a fixed, allowlisted set: the extension's configuration, turning a sales rank into an estimate, expanding a phrase you typed into related suggestions, anonymous feature-usage counts (which you can switch off), a problem report if you choose to send one, and, only with a connected account, that account's own data. None of them carries the book you are looking at. Live suggestions in the search box are fetched from the marketplace's public suggestion service by your browser, without your shopping cookies, and only for a phrase you typed yourself.
