Smart Tab Saver organizes your pages into sessions, tidies crowded windows, reminds you about the ones that matter, helps you find pages you have saved or recently visited, and sends them to the notes and reading apps you already use. Get started without creating an account, setting up AI or connecting any app. 📂 SAVE AND ORGANIZE • Save the web pages open in your current window, or select just the ones you want. Keep them open or choose “Save & close”. Blank tabs, local files and browser pages are left untouched. When you save, you are told which pages were already saved and where. • Tidy a crowded window: group its tabs by site or, with AI, by topic, review the proposal, then create Chrome tab groups or save each group as a session. Pinned tabs and tabs already in a group are left alone. • New sessions are named after their main sites and the time, so you can tell them apart at a glance. Rename them, sort them by name, saved page count, or local usage, and add notes to remember why you kept them. • Use Pocket to collect pages and links to sort later, then review it one page at a time: open, move, schedule, send, delete or keep each page, with keyboard shortcuts. • Restore saved tabs in order, including pinned tabs and Chrome tab groups captured with the session, in the current window or a new one. You can keep multiple copies of the same URL. • Coming from another tool? Import from OneTab, link lists and Markdown, bookmark HTML files, and Pocket or Instapaper CSV exports. Save any session as a Markdown file, or export all sessions as a portable backup. ⏰ COME BACK TO WHAT MATTERS • Set a reminder on a session or a page: later today, tomorrow morning, this weekend, next week, or a date of your choice. A bell on each session shows its next reminder. With an account, the reminder appears in every browser where you use Smart Tab Saver, and disappears from the others once you open it or mark it done. • Create routines: open a session automatically when the browser starts, or on the days and at the time you choose, such as weekdays at 9:00. • Find tabs you have not used for days, save them to Pocket or a new session, and close them in one step. The active tab, pinned tabs, tabs playing sound and protected sites are left alone. • Open a session in a linked window that keeps the session up to date as you open, close, move or browse tabs. Switch session from the popup or side panel to save the current window and open another project in its place. 🧩 SEND TO YOUR APPS • Send a session or a page to Obsidian, Joplin, Raindrop.io or Readwise Reader from the session menu, the page’s right-click menu or the Pocket review. Only the apps you turn on appear. • Obsidian notes start with properties you can query with Bases or Dataview, and can be prepared with AI and reviewed before sending. Send single pages and selected quotes to an inbox note, and add today’s saves and the week’s reminders to your daily note. • Export all your sessions and your Pocket to Obsidian, Logseq or Joplin as linked notes: a home note, one note per session, topic notes and a reading list, plus a sessions table and a Canvas map in Obsidian. Optionally, let AI suggest topics that you review first, and let the extension read the start of pages with unclear titles, without your cookies, to describe them better and flag pages that no longer exist. Exporting again keeps what you wrote in your notes. • Keep Pocket and Chrome’s reading list in step: new pages in either one appear in the other. Pages are only added, never removed. The reading list permission is requested only when you turn this on. • Send an event to n8n, Make, Zapier or your own server through a webhook when you save pages or a reminder is due. • Each app receives data straight from your browser, using your own token. Nothing goes through our servers. 🔗 COPY OR SHARE A SESSION • Copy a session’s page titles and links to your clipboard without publishing them. • With an activated Smart Tab Saver account, choose which pages to include in a shareable web page. You can optionally include the session note, set an expiry date, and remove the shared page later. Anyone with its link can view the pages you selected, and anyone with the extension can save them as their own session. 🔎 FIND YOUR PAGES • Search open tabs, sessions, Pocket, and the extension’s local history in one place. • Type “sts” in the address bar and press Tab or Space to search your library. Add save, open, tidy or reopen to save the window to a session, open a session, tidy the window or bring back the last window you closed. • With your permission, search your Chrome bookmarks and manage them from the extension. • Keep up to 10 favorite URLs in Quick Access, right in the popup. 💤 MANAGE INACTIVE TABS Set a tab limit and an inactivity period. When both conditions are met, Smart Tab Saver can suspend a tab, close it, disable its content, or leave it alone. New installations start with suspension selected. Protect important tabs and domains from automatic closing. If you choose automatic closing, the extension saves a recoverable copy before closing an eligible tab. ↩️ RECOVER AND PERSONALIZE Undo recent deletions of saved pages, sessions, and local history. Reopen windows you closed in the last seven days, with their pinned tabs and tab groups, and restore recent local recovery points of your open windows. Use the side panel to search and reach recent sessions beside the page you are viewing. Check your usage statistics, including restores and automatic tab management, and choose from 12 backgrounds. ✨ OPTIONAL AI • On computers that support it, AI features use the model built into Chrome: it runs on your computer, needs no key and sends nothing. • Or add your own OpenAI, Perplexity or Anthropic (Claude) API key. Requests go to your selected provider and may include your question, relevant saved titles, URLs or recent history, and, when you choose to read your pages, the short descriptions taken from them. They never search the web. Settings shows which model each provider uses. • Ask questions about your saved sessions and recent history, search sessions by meaning, group a window’s tabs by topic, get a suggested session name, draft a summary for the session note, or prepare notes for Obsidian. You review names, groups, summaries and notes before they are applied. • Turn each AI feature on or off separately. Features you turn off are hidden and send nothing. ☁️ OPTIONAL SYNC With an optional Smart Tab Saver account, you can synchronize sessions, their notes, reminders and custom order, and Pocket between installations. For 30 days, the server keeps copies of your synchronized sessions before each upload replaces them, so you can restore an earlier state. Browser bookmarks, the extension’s history, Quick Access pins, trash, routines, closed windows and window recovery points are not synchronized.
