Smart Tab Audio Recorder
Overview
Record only real audio from the active Chrome tab, trim silence, and optionally split recordings on pauses.
Smart Tab Audio Recorder captures the audible audio of your active Chrome tab and saves it locally as MP3 — without sending anything to a server. ═══ FEATURES ═══ • Record any tab playing audio (videos, podcasts, music, online meetings, calls) • Smart silence trimming — only audible audio is captured • Optional auto-split: a long pause automatically creates a new file • MP3 output (192 kbps) with WebM fallback if MP3 isn't available • Built-in library: browse, preview, download or delete recordings • Download all recordings at once as a ZIP • Switch between popup and side panel UI • Keyboard shortcuts: Alt+Shift+R to open, Alt+Shift+Y to start/stop ═══ HOW IT WORKS ═══ 1. Open the tab you want to record (any video, podcast, call, etc.) 2. Click the extension icon (or press Alt+Shift+R) 3. Click Start Recording — the recorder waits for the first sound, then captures only audible parts 4. Click Stop. Your MP3 appears in the local library 5. Download a single file or download all recordings as a ZIP ═══ PRIVACY — 100% LOCAL ═══ This extension makes ZERO outbound network calls. Recorded audio NEVER leaves your device. No cloud upload, no analytics, no telemetry, no cookies. Recordings are stored in your browser's IndexedDB until you download or delete them. ═══ LEGAL ═══ You are responsible for complying with copyright law and the terms of service of the websites you record from. Only record audio you have the right to record. ═══ SUPPORT ═══ Questions or feedback? brobikerspro@gmail.com
