Smart Page Translator translates complete web pages, text that appears after a page loads, selected text, text fields, and text-based PDF files. Important: the extension is free and has no ads or subscription. Translation requires your own API key—an access code that you create on the DeepSeek or OpenAI website. These services may charge for translation requests. You pay the selected service directly. The extension developer does not collect payments or add fees. It began as a personal tool for pages where other translators missed buttons, product descriptions, image labels, or text that appeared after the page loaded. It is now an open-source extension for public use. What the extension can do: - Translate a complete page, including new text that appears while you use it. - Show only the translation or show the original and translation together. - Save separate translation and display rules for different websites. - Translate product descriptions while keeping brand names and personal names unchanged when possible. - Translate selected text and text in the active field from the browser menu. - Offer an optional compact button beside selected text. This button is off by default. - Translate text-based PDF files and download a translated copy. - Reuse saved translations to avoid paying for the same request again. - Show the extension interface in English or Russian. Your API key and saved translations stay in extension storage on your device. Text goes directly to DeepSeek or OpenAI only when translation runs. The extension developer does not receive your key or text. Text from private windows is not added to the persistent cache. The source code, data flow, build instructions, and third-party notices are public.
