Smart Auto Refresh helps you automatically refresh the current page at a safe interval, without extra tracking or broad permissions. ### Privacy at a Glance When you start a run, the extension uses the current tab's URL or hostname locally to enforce the scope you chose. If you turn on keyword detection, it examines visible page text or HTML locally in that tab. Pause and scroll-restoration features use recent interaction signals and temporary scroll coordinates. Settings, profiles, optional saved-site defaults, and an optional custom sound stay in Chrome's extension storage on your device. None of this information is sent to the developer or a third party, sold, shared, used for ads, or used for analytics. ### Everyday Popup Experience - Start or stop auto-refresh for the **current tab** - Pick a quick preset or enter custom seconds (minimum 5 seconds) - See clear states: **running**, **paused**, **stopped**, or **blocked** - View the next refresh countdown and current interval at a glance - Choose whether to refresh **this exact page** or the **whole site** - Pause while you type, click, or scroll, then resume automatically - Restore your scroll position after refresh - Optional toolbar badge countdown so you can close the popup and still see time remaining - Friendly “Can’t run here” messaging for restricted pages (chrome://, Chrome Web Store, etc.) ### Advanced Options (Optional) Advanced controls stay behind a separate **Advanced options** panel so the default popup remains simple. - Randomized interval (jitter) - Hard refresh (bypass cache) - Stop rules (after N refreshes or after X minutes) - Background rules (only when active, or allow background refresh) - Keyword detection: - keyword appears / disappears - scan visible text or full HTML - actions: banner, highlight, sound, notification, focus tab, stop, continue, auto-click - Safety-gated auto-click actions (only after explicit per-tab confirmation) - Scheduling (start after delay, or at a time of day) - Profiles (named configurations) + Import/Export (validated JSON) - Optional per-site defaults (“Remember settings for this site”) ### What Smart Auto Refresh Does NOT Do - **No tracking or analytics** - **No ads** - **No browsing or refresh-history log** (temporary per-tab run/status state keeps a run working across reloads and lets the popup show its last result) - **No off-device transmission, sale, or sharing of extension-handled data** - **No remote code** (everything is bundled locally) ### Permissions (Why They’re Needed) - **storage**: saves settings and temporary per-tab run/status state in Chrome's extension storage on your device - **activeTab**: runs only on the tab you’re actively using when you click the extension - **scripting**: injects the refresh engine into the current page on demand - **Optional:** notifications (only if you enable desktop notifications for keyword alerts)
