# Slimmer DevTools (No-Metrics) ## Introduction Slimmer DevTools is a lightweight Chrome extension designed to enhance the web development experience by hiding the "Metrics" panel in Chrome's Developer Tools. This simple yet effective tweak allows developers to focus more on the computed CSS properties, which are often more frequently used during web design and development. ## Installation This extension can be easily added to your Chrome browser: Visit the Chrome Web Store and search for "Slimmer DevTools", then click on "Add to Chrome" to install. ## How to Use Once installed, Slimmer DevTools works automatically. There is no need for any manual intervention. The "Metrics" panel in the Chrome Developer Tools will be hidden, allowing for a more spacious view of the computed CSS properties. After activating, you may need to re-open the Developer Tools for the changes to take effect. ## Benefits - **Enhanced Visibility**: Provides a cleaner and more focused interface in the Developer Tools. - **Improved Efficiency**: By removing the seldom-used "Metrics" panel, developers can work more efficiently with CSS properties. - **Easy Toggle**: The extension can be easily toggled on or off from the Chrome extensions menu, providing flexibility. - **Mixes Well**: Slimmer DevTools works well with other extensions and does not interfere with their functionality. ## Deactivation/Reactivation To temporarily deactivate Slimmer DevTools, simply navigate to the Chrome extensions page and click on the toggle button for the extension. Reactivation can be done in the same way. ## Privacy and Security Slimmer DevTools does not collect any user data nor does it compromise the security of your browser. ## Feedback and Support Your feedback is valuable. Please feel free to leave a comment or suggestion on the Chrome Web Store page for this extension. ## Future Updates The current version is pretty much the endresult, but I am open to suggestions for future updates. ## Acknowledgements I made this extension, because I was annoyed by the "Metrics" panel in the Chrome Developer Tools. I wanted to hide it, but I couldn't find any extensions that did this. So I decided to make my own. Credits go to this StackOverflow post, which was the final push I needed to make this extension: - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/66691662/is-there-a-way-to-hide-the-box-model-graphic-in-chrome-developer-tools Hope you like it! Cheers!
