Slate

A notebook-style interface for Canvas. Uses the Canvas login already in your browser.

Slate turns Canvas into a notebook. Your courses, due dates and grades show up on ruled paper, in handwriting, with sticky notes, highlighters and red-pen grades. Everything still works: open assignments, read instructions and rubrics, and turn in your work without leaving Slate. WHAT YOU CAN DO • See everything due in the next two weeks, grouped by day, with missing work called out • Open any course to see what's turned in and what's still to do, with a progress bar • Read assignment instructions, rubrics and teacher feedback • Turn in text responses (with drafts saved as you type), links and file uploads • Check grades for every course, and hide any grade you'd rather not see • See an estimated grade when your teacher hides the course total • Jump to any assignment with Ctrl+K • Switch between notebook paper and chalkboard (dark) mode HOW IT WORKS Slate uses the Canvas login already in your browser, so there's no password or token to enter. Type your school's Canvas address once (for example yourschool.instructure.com) and you're in. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Slate talks only to your school's Canvas. It has no servers, no analytics and no ads, and your data never goes to the developer. Quizzes, graded discussions and outside tools (like Gradescope) still open in Canvas, because Canvas only allows those in its own pages. Slate is an independent project and is not affiliated with Instructure or Canvas.
