Overview
Skrol extension connects Gmail Inbox with people inside the Google contacts database.
The Skrol extension integrates the Skrol app with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Maps. The Skrol app is a professional-grade contact manager based on the Google contacts database. This database is also behind the mobile Dialer and Messages apps on Android and Apple mobile devices connected to your Google account. You should install the Skrol extension only if you are using the Skrol app and would like to enable the following productivity functions: RESEARCH EMAIL SENDERS ON THE WEB FROM INSIDE THE GMAIL INBOX The Skrol Extension adds a menu to the Gmail toolbar. You can use this menu to research the senders on the web directly from Gmail’s Inbox. You can also use it to lookup email history, check senders’ photos, search for email addresses, and open websites associated with the sender’s email. An ability to research senders before replying directly from Gmail will save you time and boost the quality of your email communication and the effectiveness of your work. VIEW AND INTERACT WITH THE SENDER INFORMATION INSIDE GMAIL MESSAGE The Skrol extension lets you view the sender’s information inside Gmail’s Inbox by opening a sidebar on the message’s right side. The sidebar will allow you view and interact with the following information: — Sender’s photograph, work title, and company name; — Access Twitter page and read up notes; — Retrieve a map or directions to the sender’s address; — Call any of the available phones numbers; — Access and review social network pages; — See and access inside the Skrol app the Groups associated with the sender. An ability to access and interact with contact information while still inside Gmail is a boon for anyone interacting with many people throughout your workday. ADD CONTACT INFORMATION TO SKROL WITHOUT TYPING When you receive an email from someone important to you, you can add this person to your contact list with just a few clicks. Even better — if there is any additional contact information inside the email message, you can select (highlight) this information, and it will transfer to the person’s folder as well. The extension can recognize and transfer a person’s photograph, title, last and first name, position, company name, work address, website name, phone numbers, and links to social sites. This option’s benefit is self-evident: instead of typing, you can transfer all of the contact information in seconds and with zero errors. Since Skrol uses the Google contact database to save information, anything you add to Skrol becomes instantly available to all other compatible apps and devices connected to your Google account. ADD NOTES FROM EMAIL MESSAGE AND WEB PAGES TO SKROL Just like with email messages, the Skrol extension lets you add names, addresses, phone numbers, social sites, images, and notes to the contact folder from any webpage without retyping or tedious copy and paste. To append any desired text to the Note field, for example, highlight it, click the right mouse button down, and use the “Add selection to Notes…” command from the “Skrol tools” submenu. The extension switches over the Skrol app and adds selected text to the end of the Note field. FIND THE PHOTOS OF YOUR CONTACTS ON THE WEB AND ADD THEM TO SKROL The Skrol extension will help you find and attach photos to people inside your contact list. Having these photos is a great way to refresh your face memory before extended family gatherings, class reunions, holiday parties, conferences, and similar other events that include a good number of people from your personal or professional networks. Since most people nowadays have their photos on the web, you can search for them right from Skrol or Gmail. Once you locate the desired picture, click the right mouse button over a new image, select the “Skrol tools” submenu, and use the “Update photo” command to add it to Skrol along with desired adjustments, such as zoom and position. By the way, you can also use a photo from your computer hard disk or copy it from the clipboard. Similarly, you can connect any web page to the active contact by using the “Link to this page..” command from the “Skrol tools” submenu. CONNECT TO SOCIAL PAGES RIGHT FROM SKROL WITH A FEW CLICKS The Skrol extension allows you to connect contacts to up to twenty most popular social sites and any number of custom-configured sites to the Skrol app with literally a few clicks. The process is very is simple: First, you’ll select a social site name from the available list and click the search command. It will show you all the social pages that match the name of the contact. Second, you’ll click that link to open the desired page. Finally, you’ll click the extension icon to transfer the social link page ID to Skrol. Once connected, you can go directly to social pages from the Gmail contact sidebar or any other place you see the app’s social site icon. CONNECT PLACES FOUND ON YELP TO SKROL Besides social pages, you can also connect to your favorites places on Yelp. To link to an establishment on Yelp, just click the Skrol extension icon in the browser’s toolbar, and the extension will transfer you back to the Skrol app so that you can add this place to the Google contacts database. The next time around, you can make a reservation right from the sidebar, check out walking directions on a Google map, and after having a good meal, click on the Yelp icon to write a helpful review! INSTANTLY ACCESS ACTIVE APPS THAT ARE ALREADY RUNNING INSIDE THE BROWSER The Skrol extension lets you open active apps inside their browser tabs instead of opening a new tab again and again. This way, you can switch over to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and Google Maps near instantly. Without the Skrol extension, a new tab would open for each app. Too many tabs would clutter your browser and impede your productivity. We hope the Skrol app and extension will make your life and work a lot more enjoyable and productive!
