Skinscave Companion — official browser extension for skinscave.com Skinscave Companion connects your Steam account to skinscave.com so you can trade and manage your inventory without leaving your browser. It is published by the Skinscave team and is the only extension officially supported by the platform. The extension does two things: it makes trades you initiate through Skinscave verifiable before they're sent, and it keeps your Skinscave inventory in sync with what's actually in your Steam account. VERIFIED TRADE OFFERS Trade-based scams on Steam almost always come down to one thing: an offer that looks legitimate but is going to, or coming from, the wrong person. When you send a trade through Skinscave, this extension checks the offer against the details Skinscave expects — the intended recipient and the items involved — before it is submitted on Steam. If something doesn't line up, the trade doesn't go through as a silent mistake. This gives you a second, independent confirmation at the moment it matters, instead of relying on a trade URL or a username you copied by hand. It's aimed squarely at impersonation and wrong-recipient scams, which are the most common way Steam users lose items. FULL INVENTORY SYNC, INCLUDING LOCKED AND HELD ITEMS Skinscave needs an accurate picture of your inventory to show your items, price them, and let you list or trade them. This extension reads your inventory directly from Steam and updates your Skinscave inventory to match. Because it reads from Steam rather than a public market view, it can also account for items you cannot trade yet: - Items inside the initial hold that applies to newly acquired items (commonly three days). - Items under Steam's trade hold, which can last up to seven days when Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator conditions aren't met. These items normally don't appear where a public view would look, which is why an inventory can seem "missing" items right after a purchase or trade. With the extension installed, your Skinscave inventory reflects your true holdings — tradable now and held — so nothing looks lost while it's simply waiting out a timer. INVENTORY ENHANCEMENTS ON STEAM On your Steam Community inventory page, the extension adds Skinscave information directly onto your items so you don't have to cross-reference the site. Every item below can be toggled from the extension's toolbar popup, individually or all at once. - Price badges. Each item tile shows its estimated Skinscave price, so you can read your inventory's value at a glance instead of checking items one by one. - Inventory total. A running total of every priced item is shown above the grid, giving you the value of the whole inventory in one figure. - Currency. Prices and totals are shown in the currency set on your Skinscave account, and a compact currency picker on the Steam page lets you switch the display on the spot. Conversion is for display only and uses live rates — it never changes a stored value. - Trade-lock status. Items still under a hold show a countdown of when they unlock, directly on the tile, so you can see what's tradable now and what isn't without opening each item. - Float values. The item's float (wear value) is shown on the tile for the skins where it applies. - Phase badges. Doppler and Gamma Doppler items are marked with their phase (P1–P4 and the gem finishes), so you can identify the exact variant without inspecting it. - Search and list shortcuts. When you expand an item, the extension adds "Search on Skinscave" and "List on Skinscave" buttons, so you can jump straight from a Steam item to the same item on Skinscave or start listing it. - A cleaner page. An optional setting hides item-tile overlays added by other extensions, so the inventory stays readable when several trading extensions are installed at once. - Skinscave branding. The Skinscave logo sits above your inventory as a clear signal the companion is active on the page. TOOLBAR POPUP The extension's toolbar button opens a small control panel where you can turn any of the above on or off, choose your display currency, refresh prices on demand, check whether the extension is connected to your Skinscave session, and open Skinscave directly. WHERE IT RUNS The extension activates on the pages where it has a job to do: - Steam Community trade offer, trade offers, inventory, and trade history pages, where it reads inventory data and validates outgoing trades. - skinscave.com, where it links your session to the extension and shows that the companion is installed and current. On every other website it does nothing. PERMISSIONS, AND WHY EACH IS NEEDED We keep the permission set to what the two features above require: - Access to steamcommunity.com and Steam's API, to read your inventory and validate trades on the pages listed above. - Access to skinscave.com and its API, to sync inventory data and coordinate trades with your account. - Cookies for the Steam Community domain, so inventory and trade requests are made as your logged-in Steam session (the same session you're already using in the browser). - Local storage, to hold extension settings and short-lived data between page loads. - Alarms, to schedule inventory refreshes. - Network request rules scoped to Steam Community, used to make the required Steam requests work reliably. The extension does not request access to your browsing on other sites, and it has no ability to run on pages outside the domains listed above. PRIVACY The extension only reads Steam data relevant to your inventory and the trades you choose to make, and only sends that data to Skinscave to keep your account in sync. It does not act on your Steam account on its own — trades are always ones you start on Skinscave — and it does not collect general browsing activity. REQUIREMENTS - A Skinscave account, signed in at skinscave.com. - A Steam account signed in to steamcommunity.com in the same browser. - Chrome 109 or newer.
