SiteExtract by Elevven11
Overview
Turn a webpage into a clean local starter project. Everything is processed on your device.
SiteExtract turns the page you are viewing into a clean, editable starter project and downloads it as a ZIP. Open a page, click SiteExtract, pick a mode and press Extract. A new tab fetches the page's stylesheets, images and fonts, rewrites every reference to a local path and hands you one file. Everything runs in your browser. There is no account, no server and nothing uploaded. WHAT YOU GET index.html, with its links pointing at local files. css/ with the page's stylesheets in cascade order, @import rules inlined, and inline styles kept in their own file. images/ and fonts/, downloaded and deduplicated. tokens.css with the colors, type scale, spacing, radii and shadows the page actually uses, ranked by how often they appear. report.json, listing anything that could not be downloaded and why. README.md describing the project. TWO MODES Snapshot (the default) saves the page as rendered: form state, lazy-loaded images, shadow DOM and styles added by scripts are all captured, and every script and inline handler is removed. It is a static page you can open and edit. Source refetches the original HTML and keeps its scripts, downloaded to js/. HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT MISSED A file that fails to download is not dropped. It keeps its original URL, so the page still works online, and it is listed in report.json with the reason. Design tokens are a starting point drawn from what the page renders, not a claim about the site's real design system. PRIVACY Nothing is uploaded, because there is nowhere to upload it to. No account, no analytics, no telemetry. There is no content script in the manifest. Nothing of SiteExtract exists on a page until you click Extract on that page. SiteExtract never reads 522 well-known sites: large platforms, where a copy is rarely a useful starter, and pages that routinely hold personal information, such as webmail, cloud storage, banking and payments. The check runs before the page is touched, and there is no override. Sites people deploy their own work to, such as github.io, vercel.app and netlify.app, are never blocked. Files a page points at on a blocked site or a private network address are not downloaded, and cookies are only ever sent to the page's own site. Access to other domains is not requested at install. It is asked for on your first extract, so images and fonts served from CDNs can be downloaded, and it can be withdrawn from the settings page at any time. Declining still works: those files keep their remote URLs. YOUR PROJECT, YOUR MARKS SiteExtract adds an HTML comment crediting itself at the top of index.html. It is invisible on the page, labelled, and can be turned off in settings. A small visible badge is available and off by default. No advert is ever placed inside the copied page. A NOTE ON USE The project is for learning, prototyping and working on sites you have the right to copy. Other people's text, images and fonts stay theirs, and font licenses in particular rarely allow reuse. KEYBOARD Ctrl+Shift+E opens SiteExtract on the current page. Change it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Free, and staying free. SiteExtract carries one house advertisement for the studio's own work, at the foot of the popup, labelled "Ad", served from a list that ships inside the extension. Opening the popup makes no request and tells nobody it was opened. One click turns it off permanently. From Elevven11 Studio.
